Perhaps if the Grand Tours were held over 14 stages instead of 21, they could make it easier for the top guys to race all of them.

 

Example:

Week 1: Sat - Wed

Rest day: Thu

Week 2: Fri - Tue

Rest day: Wed

Week 3: Thu - Sun

It might just be that with 2 weeks of racing your current superstars might not be superstars anymore. Nibali for one would not have won the giro, but thats just speculation [emoji3]. Me thinks the sprinters would be worst of in that situation.

The speed up that ITT Hillclimb was incredible. I didnt ride the stage, but a mate who did, and he is strong, did the climb in 45mins, these guys did it 30mins flat!!

Espressos at 2400m, on the way down from Colle'dellAgnello, a little 1700m climb over 30km. (I did the 2nd fastest time all year up there, not bad for a sick fatty) Took 1h50min of pure climbing!!

The other big climb of the trip was this little bad boy. Stelvio.

It was cold, muddy, snowy, ice... took more than 2hours to get to the 2800m summit.

Ja, riding up a big mountain pass in the snow is something unique and very special. Achieved my bucket list moment in the Pyrenees in March.

 

But the Stelvio in snow... wow. Can't get much better than that. I have to get over there next year.
