Does anyone have any pics they'd like to share for use in an internal magazine article on Tokai? If you have a shot of a rider on the trail, please email the pic (not larger than 5mb) to trails@tokaimtb.co.za with your full name for credit.

With the ol' saying 'don't ride trails for 24hrs after the rain' does that apply for Tokai as well or after being closed for so long (and only being open on weekends) that's gone out the window tomorrow for many?

No. Ride. The drainage is largely good and the soil will be soaking up the water like a sponge

Awesome. Managed to delay the trip down the coast so I can get a sneaky session in. :)

Is Level 5 through to Silvermine officially open yet?

Since the re-opening I've been going via Level 4 but noticed that quite a few other riders went via Level 5 this past weekend.

Not officially, no. Was up there this morning on my way to Cobra. You can get to Cobra, but after that it's closed. Well, signposted and taped off.

But, since when has that mattered to anyone who absolutely HAS to go a certain route?

EDIT: Mark is going to be asking what the holdup is pretty soon. It SHOULD be open just now.

Cool thanks. Personally I'm fine with just doing Level 4 for now so when it opens it'll be an added bonus :)

The culprits did log their activities in Strava so maybe I'll give them a polite FYI. It's not even hard to find when you start looking at specific segments and the "leaders" for the week.

Basically selfish idiots doing their best to ruin it for everybody by getting us kicked out.

Sadly the immediate result of this is likely to be the removal of safety marshals from the mast road to prevent rogue riding on level 5, so when the inevitable happens and somebody gets mugged on the mast route then you know who to blame.

Like the two guys who cycled up the first section of DH1 today....why...why...why?...you still had to get off your bikes to clamber over the log drop!! Man alive....the mind boggles....

DH1... 2 spur XCO riders.

Think so....good riders, no doubt, knew how to ride (not up log drops though!!!) but really, I did ask nicely but was greeted with a smarvy "Jaaaaa..."

I recall that we saw another two guys doing just that a week ago - they were lost however and had turned up DH 1 from Boulders. I checked signage yesterday and there is a no entry one at the  junction. Some people just miss it I think, others deliberately decide to ignore it.

The AM trail is getting better and better - such a nice addition to the bouquet...

Tokai will find it's feet. Enough people chirp and the problem will fade.

So we saw a man and his son without helmets on new/old bikes. Shows how long they been in the garage but moving on, no helmets, so we stop them. "No... they forgot them" in quick a bid to escape unhindered.

I have a quick chat, and send them on their way knowing th've probably going to turn around because of all the cmments they'd attract. 10 minutes later they leave...

I remember that, yip, sometimes you can just tell...these XCO guys, however, knew what they were doing but for some reason felt the "rules" didn't apply to them....otherwise they would have used the old "we lost/didn't see the sign"....anyway, as (Deon) says, enough chirps from enough people will bring most in line...("most" cause there's always that one guy!!)

"Ride to enjoy and enjoy to ride!" (I said that...you can use it if you want....)
