Jewbacca Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 So when can I grab my spade and hoe ??? I was going to make a joke about why you wanted to bring your missus but I thought better of it as, well, it's rude.
capediver Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 A site visit by the TokaiMTB committee was conducted on Saturday. It's the first time the committee as a whole has been back onto the trails since the fire and the expressions on people's faces alone could tell a story. TokaiMTB has completed the budget requirements for restoration of the trails and early access intervention. We will now look to various groups for the financial support needed to get Tokai back to "as close" to the amount of trails we had before. There will also be a few new trails included in the official network but this ultimately relies on the support needed to get started asap. Yes, there will be a call for volunteers but it is important that we stick to the work schedule or we run the risk of not completing in time for the reopening. Jumps, berms and other features will be perfected in time. It is important now to get the alien off the trail and restore them to a rideable state. Really exciting times ahead!Pics or it NEVER HAPPENED!
capediver Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Deon, any time lines available for start of work...I'm in country from Mid Jun for a month and keen to get my hands dirty!
Shebeen Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 okes are chomping at the bit, me included. I think this has the potential to be the largest community built mtb trail in the city. Do CBC make enough beer to sponsor the entire workparty or will we have to go to nambrew??
Headshot Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 This is a few meters into Mamba - its not quite as bad as it looks...
Headshot Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 That's the end of Mamba to prove you can get the whole way down, on foot at least. Those aliens are back but on the whole Mamba isn't that badly infested yet...
Headshot Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 This on the other hand is not looking so good - the start of Boomslang.
Headshot Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 The view from the top - never seen Tokai quite like this but will have to get used to it. This is the start of the Bridal Path/Switchbacks with the Vlakkenberg jeep track in the background.
Headshot Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Bridal Path: Some of the detritus on the trail - this is near one of the right hand switchbacks towards the left of the slope as you descend. Most of the trail is much better than this.
Headshot Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Some of the erosion slightly lower down on Bridal - no major earthworks required...
Jewbacca Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I cannot wait to ride Bridal path again.... I have had dreams about it these last months!
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Bridal Path: Some of the detritus on the trail - this is near one of the right hand switchbacks towards the left of the slope as you descend. Most of the trail is much better than this.Must say I'm looking forward to riding this again!!
Headshot Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Back down the mountain again and looking at the start of Vasbyt/DH3. It doesn't look this good if you turn around unfortunately... Going to take some time to get used to those naked slopes in the back ground.
Headshot Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 A better view of Vasbyt/DH3 - by all accounts it isn't looking too bad further down either.
