Very possible but the fact that the dispatcher was somewhat confused as to where Tokai was "Is that near Clovelly Road?" also doesn't fill me full of confidence that they would have been there much quicker without the strike.

exactly, maybe a bit lucky that the rider wasn't too seriously injured, but had it been bleeding out worse... it can be a life or death situation.

There was a huge group riding there yesterday. Some memorial ride. Chatted to a couple of guys and they were complaining that riding up is not easy at all despite being told Tokai is easy.

I got stuck in the middle of that group trying to get in... managed to get away from them until about half way up the climb then about half of them punted past me. Not sure what that says about my state of fitness!

That it's almost guaranteed to still be better than mine

Never bother to phone 10111 - they are as they used to say in the SANDF - "hond ko#t ***" I saw a homeless person struck by a car on the M5. I used 10111. It was a complete joke trying to explain that it was at the M5/Lansdowne road fly over. Rather phone for a pizza you'll probably get better results.

i believe a rider fell yesterday, and the ambulance was stuck at the gate because of the prison fences being locked?

...

As Mark says, not the case at all.

We're hoping to setup a fast response service that with enough buy-in, can be used for anyone needing help in Tokai. Response times are quoted to be within ten minutes for the first responder who can assess and call in assistance if needed. When I last spoke to this group, they had the advantage of access to all the air rescue choppers, whichever is available at the time of the emergency..

Details still need to be worked out but we are a lot closer now to getting this right.

First time rider at Tokai. We have his name but it seems a bit wrong to put it out here without his knowledge.

Just curious if it was someone we know.

I cracked a rib there a couple weeks back.

It can happen to any of us.

Strongs to the rider.

Good work to all involved, those who sacrifice their weekends to keep the place running n' watching over us and again to the community for checking on fellow riders and looking after our own.

When the first bunch past me, I stopped and admired the early morning until majority of them past me.
