Fitting led light to helmet

What McGuyver moves have you used to fit your wired led light to your helmet? I have a Troy Lee A1 so no center vents.

Just remeber that any hard fasteners ( like bolts or screws) will fundamentally negate the protection offered by the helmet.

 

I used adhesive backed velcro for a while but the light kinda wobbles a bit.

 

Recently swapped out my bike helmet for a mountaineering helmet on night rides cos they have flat hooks for attaching headlamps fitted with elastic straps. Mountaineering lids lack the ventilation and not designed for quite the same fall/impact scenarios but many similarities in construction.

 

I would immediately buy any decent mtb helmet that has tabs for securing headlamp elastics

I've used this too - came with my light.  Was a bit of a fiddle getting it to fit nicely without me feeling it, but it did work.

I didn't like the feeling of the light on the helmet though - It felt unbalanced and heavy (I don't have a big or heavy light, it's very... light.), so I only used it once.

I rode with a camera on my helmet for a while. It didn't weigh much. But it felt terrible, made my neck sore.

Yep. Used that in the past with my extremelights LED lamp. Works well with a bit of velcro, or you COULD get some loooong cable ties and tie it into position. Disposable, yes, but you won't have any velcro on your lid. 

 

I eventually bought a new helmet and modded my old one to have a permanent lamp mount with double sided tape.

Have used one of those Velcro straps that you use to use to secure your pump.  Took my light apart and pop riveted the body to the strap.  Now can interchange between mtb and road helmets.  Velcro strap merely fed through the vent slots in helmet and secured.
