Mntboy Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I would say maybe Froome and sky should just give it a go today, but I don't the think Froome has enough juice left to do something today, full gas tomorrow during ITT and Saturday.. also not sure if he will gamble it all for GC with the risk of losing 2e..Bert on the other hand.. well he will risk it all for GC.... but it's been a tough week the guys are tired. And I don't think they'll have a easy day today... the fast guys will want to give today a good go.. they've had so few opportunities so I think at some point the sprint teams will come to the front and make it hard.My prediction is a bunch sprint after the peloton has caught the break with about 10k to go. Meersman beating Drucker in a tight finale with Sbaragli getting DiData another top ten result. Our Italian is nothing if not consistent. Sent from my GT-S6790 using Tapatalk

Ttocs Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Good to see how Froome and Alberto have recovered after the rest day, those Spanish steaks are something special.

But it's not going to be easy the route is far from flat.. they will have to work hard to bring the break backAnd the relative strength of the break will be a factor as well. And we have seen some lekker strong breaks this year. Hence my caught at 10k part of my prediction. That lumpy start and techy finish is going to make for entertaining racing. SwissVan Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Think the likes of Yates and Chaves might give it a go today, even Talansky. The main contenders will be on each others wheels, so don't think there will be much there.. there again this is the Vuelta and anything can happen!!Don't be Vrooming surprised if Froomie cleans up today and tomorrow Definetly not an easy recovery routeDon't be surprised if ...... someone big makes a move
HappyMartin Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I heard he was doing the 94.7 . . . . or did I just make that up ;-)Hmm he is not much of a climber and the new 94.7 route is quite hilly. I think he would struggle with it a bit.
philip.maree Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 See van Garderen has abandoned again. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/van-garderen-abandons-the-vuelta-a-espana/ I am sure he wishes that they would only have 1 rest day in a grand tour. The second one always breaks him. Hope Froome kills it in the ITT so that Saturdays stage end up being a great showdown.
