HappyMartin Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Wow. Just watched that crash again on YouTube. Really ugly. I don't watch cycling to see that stuff.
shaper Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 BBC reports she is concious after the crash and has been taken to hospital, no other news on her condition

Eugene Oppelt Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 WowWhat a thriller of a race by the women That final hour was riveting  Fantastic 10th for Ashleigh ????????????????????????

Mntboy Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Glad that Anna V/d Breggen got gold. She deserves it after her narrow loss at last years world's. Also because she rode her butt off to show respect to Annemiek. Johansson and Longo Borghini also deserving of their medals. Great race despite Annemiek's horror crash. Sent from my GT-S6790 using Tapatalk
GrumpyOldGuy Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 As usual the woman's race was scintillating, I have to feel for Mara Abbot, 100 odd metres....! Great competitors, Emma Pooley, such a little powerhouse, Borghini, always on the podium,Katarzyna Niewiadoma never faltered, Kristen Armstrong did everything to keep USA in the mix and of course Anna van der Breggen, just a superb athlete. I think Lizzy also felt the pressure of the recent issues, watching her is like watching a fine Swiss clock in motion, I think she is so much better than her 5th spot, but mentally she must have felt the strain. Never the less, a fine race and a worthy winner. Â
mazambaan Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Exciting race; felt for Mara caught so close to the line. Really nasty crash; greasy road and those high kerbs; ouch.
Mntboy Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Wel nou kry Annemiek 'n lang vakansie!  Eish! Bly sy is redelik ok!  Her injuries somehow sounds less serious in Dutch than it does in English.  Healing vibes and prayers to/for her! Sent from my GT-S6790 using Tapatalk
eddy Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I really feel for Lizzie Armitstead. Her preparation was going so well when WADA came and pee'ed in her soup. Don't they know that only Russians dope?
