I am going to spend the next 2 weeks between Springbok , Kamieskroon , Skilpad and Garies cycling on routes that we have done before .

Is is possible/safe( traffic) to do a loop from Springbok to Spektakelpass and back through Nababeep ?

Looks like there is a road from the Nababeep N7 road back to the R355 .

Tips are welcome

Thanks

I am originally from that area, Spektakel/Killians and Wildeperdehoek pass was in a seriously bad state the last time I checked. I went up to our farm in Garies last week, and the dirt road that side was quite washed out from the recent rain. So if you have a support vehicle, make sure it is a 4x4 and someone that knows the area and the route.

I think the N7/R355 will be safe to cycle. I know the owners of Spar in Springbok are avid road cyclist. You van maybe try and get hold of them for better info.

Thread revival .....

I will be in Springbok next week, staying in town.  Any 30 to 50km loops that is a must do in the area ?

Most likely Monday late afternoon, early evening ....

Alternatively, driving back to the Cape on Tuesday .... any place where I should stay over and take in the local trails ?

I was looking at that perfect service road next to the N7 when I went up 2 weeks ago.  Would make a nice long trip, if one could get access and had the time for a longer trip ....

Het 10 jaar gelede daar vir 3 maande gewerk.
Het tot bo gedraf, saans die strate plat gehardloop, die inwoners gedink ek is mal.

Grootse opwinding was as n bos vol chineese toeriste kom blomme kyk…

There is a nice little loop around the golf course, can get a little confusing towards the end though.

Lots of trails in the Goegap reserve, other side the airfield. I unfortunately never got round to riding those.

Most of the trails used in events are on private farms. I was lucky to stay on one of these farms while I lived in Springbok. Check out Liefland on Lekker Slaap, there a 30km+ of riding on their farm that some events use annually.

Otherwise loads of gravel roads everywhere. I can PM you the names of one or two locals that you can look at their Strava activity.
