Reunion is under French administration and everyone there carries French passports, even the currency is French Francs, they consider themselves French.

Mauritius is a sovereign nation and falls within 'Africa' ask any Mauritian and they'll tell you theyre Mauritian, made in Mauritius. Fiercely proud of it too and Franco Mauritians get pretty upset when referred to as French.

Fascinating aspect of the islands there.

Yeah..one of our clients is a 50% Mauritanian and 50% French. Interesting dynamic. I'm not to clued up on my dialects..but Mauritius is more creole...not sure about reunion

Reunion ... active volcano there!  Used to be a Department of the Motherland and you need a Schengen Visa, but I think they have chiilled out somewhat and Saffas can just pop in now. No directly flights, you go via Mauritius

There's no wrapping your head around french colonies. I was confused between Fiji and Tahiti for the longest time. Always thought Fiji was one on the french polynesian islands. Then there's most of North Africa too. A buddy of mine joked that France's national football team in this years Euro could probably qualify for the Afcon too ^_^ So...

You're forgiven.

I think it boils down to how people see themselves I suppose. I read not too long ago about sovereignty movements particularly in the french Polynesia. How divided locals were about actual independence. They use the franc. But France uses the Euro. They have they own government but some of the officials are actually from the french national assembly. Polynesians can also vote in French national elections. Whats interesting is how on the WSL surfers are listed according to where they come from. South Africa, French Polynesia, France, Hawaii, USA..

Back to the racing though, I was too caught up in the action to comment here at the time.

I jumped up for a few of those crashes. Haven't seen that many scary ones in one race before.

Disappointed about Mr Min. But stoked for Danny. It was a mooi day to finish things off.
