Johann I'm interested in a fresh set of legs never before used in the Freedom Challenge, could you perhaps manufacture a set for me in your workshop ???

:whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

I'm a bit low on legs at the moment, but I'm sure we can make a plan. I have two brand new old stock Crackindale legs, but they are both left foot. Maybe I can grind one foot right? And put some Spaz stickers on them ? I'll swop them for an XT 9 spd shifter

Thanks but the bodge has been installed and looks actually neat.

Glad you're sorted. Did you find the M8x20 cup square screw. If not, you'll easily find that in PMB

The useless Germans from bike24.com have given an update asking wy my order for a dropout and bolts was delayed the replied the white shoes you ordered are not in stock. I d'didn't order any shoes. And when you reply to their mail it comes back and say your mail has been bounced and marked as spam.

Will carry spare bodge you actually don't see much difference.

******

Alex Harris

Martin Dreyer

neither of them need introduction or justification. 6 stars they are in a special league

***

Fjord Jordaan

Can do what he did in 2015 start a bit slower and latch onto the race snakes in Rhodes

**

Jacques Tattersall

Has the disadvantage to leave with the top guys and won't have much company/pacing on the bike.

Anton Maybery

Does he do RTR as recce or is he gonna wear himself out fast to Rhodes but Diemersfontein is a long way.

*

Tim James

Tim is at top rider and man and deserves a lot more then one star. But I see him falling in the trap of following Alex and Martin. And although Tim has enormous mental strength I see him blowing his engine as he has done before trying to follow thes two.

Enjoy the speculation. We'll be doing plenty more of that over the next month :-).

Martin and Alex are entered for one reason only and its to get to Diemers first, in record time and to equal Tim's 3 wins. It means anyone else who wants to challenge would need to move faster than they or anyone else has before, endure more discomfort than they had before and are able to cover the route with eyes closed. They must want to do all this very very badly. Going to be a very exciting few weeks for the dot watchers.

PS: As far as your Tim comment is concerned, he's too experienced to be dragged along and as per always his strategy will be to never stop for very long. I suspect the youngsters may be a bit faster than Tim but if they blink he'll be all over them.

Try Grant Usher at Sprocket & Jack (087 150 8495)

He used to stock Salsa

Otherwise, if you ask really nicely and promise to give it back, you can use mine off my Salsa El Mar

Thats really nice to offer. But the bodge has been installed and approved by mechanic. Will try it out over the weekend and most likely stick with it. Will maybe post pics over the weekend for approval.

What exactly is the broken part? Post a pic and a description, we may find one here?

PS My workshop opens again on Friday afternoon ;)

Is the workshop in Prince albert or will you be towards PMB. Mine has been doing overtime brakes got installed yesterday. Today saw new inners and outers for the rohloff some internal reiinforcements for the time trial bars and a new saddle as my big as had bent the rails on the old one(well it was actually maybe 15 rides old at most(to much setback according to the mechanic.

If the knee feels well test rides and packing over the weekend.

I found some M8x20 screw and those special locking nuts. Only upgrade would be a hex 8X20 screw as that would be one less tool to carry for tightening it up every evening.

Its a pity that Moose kid isn't riding this year. Seems he's been riding with the students and doing those rides where you ride fast loops around a district or two with lots of loud music when you fill your bottles.

Really would have liked to have seen him ride himself into the earth against the two old hands.

Pity about that.

Going for my first ever recce on the Freedom, need to show two serious very fit and tenacious dark horse snakes a couple of legal sneaks in the dark.

My wife and children are very worried that I might just continue down the track.........which would be good for the aging body and soul.......

So I did my first ever recce on the Freedom trail over the weekend, I found myself in the company of two seriously fit riders and subsequently suffered seriously at times, which I enjoyed immensely.

What I have learned out of my experience is that I don't always have the best and the shortest route, and that the shortest route ain't always the best route, we had the luxury of comparing time splits......

One other thing that I've noticed is that the outcome of this year's race will certainly not be determine by two dark horses, there might be lurking more.....

Time will tell.....

I had the pleasure of starting in Tim James batch on the recent Race to Willomore, what a great guy!!

Tim travels VERY VERY light in terms of gear, I have some pics of his set up, but I wont share them....

So I believe we need to be chatting a bit about RTR first people setting of soon

* * * * *

Mike Woolnough

He has it all route and night experience and proven from this year Munga Cradock Durban Dash all with podium results. And he's leaving last so he has split times to ride too. 55 Hours I predict

* * * *

None Mike is going to win

***

None

** and a half

Anton Mayberry not sure to his strategy is he going for RASA recce or is he going to be set use the first serious guide time

**

Leon he's a **** start rider but starting really early so to me he's just going for a recce ride.

Otto and Poser they ride as a pair have been there before and posted decent times I see the coming in in around 3 days

Pieter van der Westhuizen his profile pic is really slick and apparently adevnture racing is in the bloodline

* and a half

Ollie and Lee if the can remember the difference between the Tina and Vuvu river they should go clearly under 4 days

Myself? I havee not been racing fit for over ten years, am almost ten kg above my fighting weight and almost 100 watts shy of the good old days that I went fast I'll just try to not be distanced too much by all the other snakes. Lets pray for snow.
