I can get a gap to ride the w2w but not sure if i will make it in the technical side. I dont mind single track like gspot and jonkies. What is w2w like 50% single track.

AND YES I AM A ROADIE????

I rode it 3 years back as a Noob Dirt Roadie, and hated it. I had to get off a lot due to technical stuff. Then it was ok and the guys were patient, but MTBers seem to have become more roidy and tend to shout at you fall on a switch back corner.

I would probably ride it again now as a normal Dirt Roadie and hate it less.

You will make it, dont stress about that. Just dont the angry men with hairy legs seriously.

With my 62.4 seeding i dont think to many will be behind me maybe i must buy a light. I can do my own w2w night ride

3  things seem to catch inexperienced mtb'rs on the W2W route

1  the hike (practice carrying your bike up stairs)

2  sand - chill and let the front wheel float

3  switchbacks

You can ride most of the route now already. Go and ride at Oak Valley, Lebanon, Hemel en Aarde - you'll see that it's not all that technical. It's all about confidence - and if you know what's in store for you, you should be ok.

The toughest part will probably be on the Somerset West side of the mountain.

Lebanon isn't part of w2w anymore. That was the only hard bit.

Do it, its a lekker 3 days on the bike.

And go ride Oak Valley, Paul CLuver and Hemel and Aarde at least once before the event. Then you'll be fine.

Even better, go for a lesson or two with Joanna Dobinson, she is great at teaching, and will get your confidence in tech situations up quickly. Consider her fees an investment.

Bud, if you have to opportunity to ride, take it. It's a fantastic event! You won't regret it!

Thanks guys i think im going to plonk the card and start training

damn I would jump at the chance to spend 3 days riding in that terrain . Ride what you comfortable with and walk the rest. By day 3 you will probably be riding nearly everything .

Bust just enjoy it. It frikkin beats work ????

Very rideable. But agree with an earlier post regarding switchbacks. There are plenty and some are steep going down. They will catch you out if you tired. Try and practice these and work out a technique to get through them. Oh and enjoy!!!!
