Hoogekraal Cobra - rant

Thanks... might put in a little padding on that time. Like to stop and look at the views.  :whistling:

I klapped it (with skipping Cobra just in case I was short on time for the dreaded trail curfew) in about 1hr20min car-park to car-park after work yesterday.

Agreed with many points Thermophage. The cost of building the trails is high and the building season short so features are considered as add-ons at a later stage with the focus on creating a trail that the bulk of people can ride.

I agree 100% with the uphill switchbacks - as an xco rider, they're unnecessarily steep and tight and this will probably be attended to when we get to the first round of enhancements. We have a shortage of rocks on our trails (literal ones, not figurative lol!) so gnarly features are a challenge and the bulk of features require shaping. Shaped features are not everybody's idea of technical but the level of "technicality" can be determined by speed and line choices.

this I don't understand. that's the type of technical riding that is a no risk learning (and fitness) curve.

FULLY agreed. If I can do them on my reign, completely fooked and without any problems (I did stall right at the top of the first one, full disclosure) then you should be able to do them on your XCO whip with ease.

1h18 with 1h16 moving time.

Bastard.

But you also cheated. Add another 12min for Cobra and you're in MTBeer's vicinity of 1h30

Yeah I know it was a slow time...but I have excuses...

1) Took the long travel heavy as F*** Spitfire

2) Was damn windy

3) Damp ground made padaling tough

4) Ate about 1kg droewors on the drive there  :w00t:

5) Stopped to chat to some other riders at the top of the last decent  :whistling:

Fixed.

Me - I'm in the middle (that's what she said)

Reason for the fix - enduro baggy pants riders, like XCO riders and trail riders, all do the technical stuff. Either because they like it, because they have to in order to do better in competition, or both.

Dirt Roadies by definition do not.
