Now,now be nice to the newbie, The Shimano, campag debate is a world wide topic that has been going on for many years now!

I do not agree with you, as a fellow mechanic that has worked on many pro s bikes it is our job to check every thing, including cables and to make sure that things like this dont happen, Yes, it could be a faulty cable ( can happen to any cable company) Or like most of the pro s they try save weight by going upmarket cable kits, they light ,thinner and break eazyer at times! But its sad for all of us to blame shimano when none of us really know the real story, we just guessing- im just give you a mechanic s point of view!

As for the torque setting for Shimano dura-ace crankset, You need to spend less time on this site and more in the shimano web site!

These are the correct settings quickly for you!

1- Torque setting for bb are 35-50 n.m ( not the crank bolts fellow hubber)

2-Torque settings for crank cap (that fits into the crank axile shaft) are

0.7-1.5 n.m

3-Each bolt need to be evenly and equally to torqued to 12-15 n.m

If your mechanic or shop does not do this the crank will fall off every time and so my friend you have never met a real mechanic yet!!

Any one who says "tighten it until it strips and then 1 turn back" Need to stay far away for any tool s or workshop!

Thanks for the welcome note but i just happen to one of your" highly knowledgeable people"

Once you ve read the complete shimano tech manuals - come back to me and we can chat!

Enjoy your day buddy!

Okay' date=' I've got a good one.

So now he had an excuse for not winning this sprint. What was his excuse for not winning the sprints in during the 07 TdF when he was riding Campag?

Please note, I'm not disrespecting Robbie, just making a statement.

Kempekker feels so little for their supproters that they do not even cater for a MTB groupset...... they tried but it was an absolute failure. So my dear kempekkers, if you want to indulge in the sport of MTB riding you will have to use Shimano!!!!! If you want to stay in your old habit of downgrading like using kempekker, you can always opt for Sram.

"After the first Shimano 2007 news, some rumours about Campagnolo are spreading on the internet.
It is said that Campagnolo cranksets will be totally redesigned for the next year. They'll use a system similar to Shimano because of the external bearings but they will be ultra-narrow to lower the Q-Factor.
The crank/bottom bracket is different than the Shimano in that the crank is 2 ?L? shaped items that fit together mechnically in the center of the bottom bracket spindle.
Still according to rumours, Campagnolo would be working closely with FRM and the first bikes equipped with the new cranksets would already be under tests on the road."

2007 Campagnolo Record "UltraTorque"-model bottom bracket using 6805(?)-series outboard cartridge bearings. The right (chainring-side) bearing failed.

Found via occasional "popping" sound. Crank is marked

Campagnolo

L 172.5

OB 715756

SN 1518

Hilly riding, typically slow pedaling/high-torque. Bike+rider approx 85 kgf. Approximately 1,000km use.

On disassembly, clamp bolt "felt tight" but was not checked with torque wrench.

It appears the bearings fractured in to small pieces that were able to escape from the cartridge without damage to either inner or outer race. In contrast, typical overload- and grit-induced failures cause bad bearing surface damage and eventual loose operation or race fracture.

The bearing is a Conrad-style offset-fill bearing. While some of the cage was ejected, it does not appear to have been enough to allow ball rearrangement and self-disassembly.

Metal debris was found in the bottom bracket but was not available for inspection.

Nee oom H, was seker maar 'n onceoff boo-boo.  Het dieselfde gery, dieselfde style (low RPM, etc etc) and no problems.  Same as the one or two Raleigh frames you like to point out had problems and the rest that were fine.

How about this one on the kempekkernoglia website nogal, on the use of their Ultra Narrow extremely expensive 10 speed chain. Go and read this!!!!!!! Quite hillarious....... they even warn cyclists (can you call people who use kempekker cyclists!!!!!????) to wear safety glasses when using this product....... I shudder when I think of passing a kempekker using this chain that it may expode killing innocent bystanders, babies and cyslcists.... heaven forbid!!!!!!
