Cycling Glasses: Transition/photochromic bifocals

I can no longer see my Garmin:

• Does anyone know where to source decent quality transition/photochromic bifocals for MTBing?
• I recently purchased some BBB photochromic +2 bifocals online from the UK. Perfect fit and great to read the Garmin, but the transition/photochromic part is almost totally ineffective, useless in bright sunshine. I suppose you get what you pay for ...
• Also phoned Rudy Project, major mission to have them made overseas and prohibitively expensive. Same goes for Oakley, no bifocals, prescription only, have to be made up in Spain if I remember correctly.
• Any ideas ... many thanks.

An optometrist can then supply the lenses as per spec.

Thanks, I'm from Durban. I already have Rudy Project photochromics. Never heard of the 'inserts' you refer to, but will take them to my optom and ask him.

Sziols are pretty cool. Never fog up, the lenses are really easy to change. Have a South African office. I'm not sure how the bifocals bit works but I recall something about the designer wanting to make that part easy.  http://www.sziols.co.za/Products/Frames-and-Lenses   0114630229

Not sure if they are still going.  Unfortunately their clear bifocal lenses, which I need for early morning, only come in 2.5 which is just not strong enough for me.  After three years of hard use the rubber on the ear and nose pieces has perished.  In desperation I ordered some from the States - which should arrive soon!

Just buy a set of sunnies with full frames of your choice and take them to your optom for lenses that match your scripts - they can even do the photochromic thing too....
