Ant+ and Bluetooth

I have a powerbeam indoor trainer in the bluetooth version. I chose this over Ant+ because I use it with an iPad. The speed/cadence and HRM is therefore also BLE.

Now I'm thinking of buying a Fenix 3 (damn that other thread) or a dedicated cycling computer (using old iPhone at present). But it seems all is Ant+ ?

Any suggestions for nice cycling computer that will work with Bluetooth ? Suppose if I want the Fenix I will need Ant+ speed/cadence on bike as well? Will look like a xmas tree with doubles of everything :-(

Don't polar use both? (zero research just word of mouth I heard somewhere)

Nope, Polar made an explicit statement a couple of years ago that they will not support ant+

The Joule GPS+ is dual ANT+ and BLE. Pretty decent computer, although I bought it from a guy who wanted to "upgrade" to a Garmin (ANT+ only, from what I understand). Never used a Garmin, so can't comment on the Joule GPS+ versus a Garmin.

I think you'll find that the best head units are ANT+ (just because ANT+ has been the industry standard for such a long time). This will probably change though (and technology moves quickly).

Having read DCRainmaker's review of the Wahoo Elemnt, that looks like a great option insofar as compatibility with everything is concerned.

If I was to buy now it'll be between the Garmin Edge 820 or the Wahoo Element.

The Wahoo Elemnt is fantastic, I  choose it over my Garmin 520 every ride (anyone want to buy it? barely used) use my fenix for Discovery points and running!  The Wahoo is super easy to read, does Strava live, the live tracking actually works, and best feature of all, it doesn't need Garmin connect, the worst fitness phone app  in existence with a user base of more than 3 people!

On this point: do you get a heart rate strap that connect with both a BLE and ant + device simultaneously?

Suunto used to have one; don't know if they still do

The wahoo strap called the tickr can do that.

Pretty much anything strap that does both protocols can.
