I want to pull the trigger on a set of rims, the R25 29er. Any opinions on these rims? Asked the same question under a topic specifically about those wheels but thought I'd reach out a little further. Have a wheel set with a damaged rim so just need the rims for a rebuild.

Great wheels and great value. I'm busy building a set of 650b Rapidé wheels. Will only be able to ride them later this month as my build comes along

Done 2x orders in last 2 weeks. Both arrived the next day. 11-42 10s cassette is probably just under XT quality and as light. Shifting is a little bit worse than XT IMO but completely acceptable.

N/W rings are very light and I have not had a chain drop despite abandoning my top chain guide and riding the Tokai DH line and bumpiest snake trails since I fitted it.

Just ordered some YBN chain as a 2 pack to keep for a chain change in a few months time - R270 per chain and they look like quality items. .  Also just got the saddle to replace my creaky old Spaz one.

Anyone ridden the 30mm internal 650b rims?

I want to build my hubs over onto them but just want to know if anyone has issues with them?

They'll be going on a long travel hardtail.

I used my X0 10spd clutch rear derailer as a stop gap, till I bought the GX 11spd rear derailer. Worked fine, although dialing the indexing in took a while.

With GX derailer shifting is perfect with the converted front shifter.

Or you can just purchase this

Awesome service from these guys! Next day delivery and super competitive pricing - my preferred online shop for drivetrain components.

A report back on the drive train components I bought. The YBN chains look good but there is a problem. I don't often resort to chain checking but as an experiment I compared the nearly new XT on my wife's 1x10 set up and the nearly new YBN chain on mine. The wear was far higher on the YBN. Obviously there have been different amounts of use and I am far heavier and more aggressive rider so I put it down to that until I checked the brand new chains in my drawer. The YBN's show significant wear from new in the packet. Now a month or so further on, the one on my bike is nearly at 100% wear while my wife's XT has hardly worn with similar km put on on both bikes.

Not very impressed with these things - this will lead to more drive train wear and the possibility that a top brand chain will simply slip on the cassette that has been worn to the YBN's rather poor tolerance.

Report:

So far the wheels have been bomb proof
