What can cause this

After I broke the "Ball" off the end of my Femur, it took me a few years  to beat my Strava Segments downhill again - but they thankfully have all been replaced with much faster one's. (despite braking a scapula and dislocating a finger in between)

Yip, happened to me too. Walk like a crayfish these days.

Could not get my confidence back, no matter how hard I tried.

(Should have read what Paul says prior to selling my bikes)

Could also be age related. I can't do the stuff of my youth any longer. Especially height related activities and summersaults off rocks into mountain pools etc.

I know what you mean, I can't drink 8 beers in an evening anymore. And it turns out my clubbing days are over too...

So this is a bit of a "crashers anonymous" thread.

Recently had a really bad fall on the mtb where as the doctor puts it "it looks like you used your lower inside lip to stop"

Broken wrist and concussion. It's been two weeks, and I am desperately in need of some endorphins. It has affected my mind negatively, and I am currently feeling very sorry for myself.

I am also aware, and not looking forward to the "trying to get confidence back" road ahead of me.

Never mind the journey of rehab for a fractured wrist.

Bike is very repairable, helmet is toast, so are the brand spanking new catlike glasses the wife bought for my birthday ( first ride out with them)

Good luck man. How old was your helmet?

I know bell and Giro have return policies on them, obviously with T&C.

Only advice I have is get back on and do it. The first few times were no fun at all, but the fun comes back before the skills.

It's a giro, probably less than or just over a year old.

Keen to get excersising again, keen to get the bike sorted, but hampered by my wrist and neck.

I know it's a process, and I'm a pretty patient person, so I will endure.

It's the sitting at home doing nothing that's getting to me.

Guys anything is possible, just remember it was just a crash, if you love riding and keep at it you will regain your confidence and pace. The guy that won this year's dakar rally on a Motorbike broke his neck in 3 places 3 years ago, if he can get through that you can too.

I came off a superbike a few years ago..... at WELL above the national speed limit  Had to wait for broken ribs to heal and get a shoulder op a few months later and when the shoulder finally healed I found i had exactly the same problem, bike felt like it drifted towards one side......

Although i only ride mtb, to this day I still get that same feeling sometimes. I have 4 completely different bikes and have ridden many different types of terrain, from tar to loose gravel, always the same feeling.....

I just tough it out and pretend it is not there, but man I can still feel those ribs when it happens... Definitely a confidence damper!

Me thinks that shoulder Op left one arm shrter than the other

if you still have your receipt take it with the helmet to the store where you purchased it.

I know bell exchanges your helmet for 30% of the purchase price, if it is newer than a year.

Not sure what Giros T&C are.

I did a BA course in my off time. Just to keep busy.

Bit of a crash update, have recovered enough to do 20 minutes on the kickr yesterday, but only Zone1. Had to really motivate myself for the last 5 minutes.

Will attempt 30 mins tomorrow morning. All stiches have come out, also the dissolvable ones inside my lower lip.

Hopefully the last 3 weeks have shown enough healing in my fractured wrist to not need surgery, but I guess i will find out when i see the ortho ths morning.

So, before selling my bike, my one riding partner suggested that we swap wheels (we have the same setup) just to check. because the frame is not bend, bar is straight, level and in the middle, cranks are straight, seat post is straight.

And suddenly that feeling is gone.

Swapped back, and pulling to the side again.

Back home, swapped tires for older tires, and problem is sorted.

I think I fooled myself,  but tires are cheaper than another bike. I won't get enough dough for my bike anyway to buy something else.

Can tyres do that? I thought it would rather be bent rims?
