Sorry Bud but I will be bad cop here. I know this thing- I was young, fit and fast then fat and fourty. Now I am fit enough to do most reasonable rides.

You are way too erratic with watching your diet. Why so many excuses? Don't eat it! As was mentioned before- your training is not enough to trigger your weight loss. You need a two pronged attack. Diet AND training. Besides:a ride with your daughter or a round of golf just doesn't count!

If you are going to put things off "until Monday" or until "I get my bike" you just won't get going. You can go for a 30min jog at 23:00 at night.

Pussy footing around won't get you there! Do it and do it NOW!

Thank you for the kind words sir. I am trying to change 37 years of bad habits so I will falter along the way

Sunday update

Morning RHR - Didn't measure

Weight - no scale until 2 January

Training - Did a 21km ride in 1h06.

Caloric intake - too much

This morning's ride was nice if not a bit hot. This place is hot so spending most of the day in the pool.

My plan is to do 40km towards the end of this week.

Apologies again. I misunderstood your thread. I thought you were asking for advice. Good luck with your endeavors. Over and out.

Any advice is good and I take it to heart.

Dude, your effort is way better than the majority of overweight and unfit people in this country....

It's people like you that I admire and impress with because you are trying to do something about it...

Keep up the effort and good work, your positive go getter attitude will get you there...

I disagree.... golf is an excellent fat burner if you push/carry your own bag for +/- 4hrs (18 holes) and don't make a pig of yourself at the 19th

Thursday Update

Morning RHR - 60bpm

Weight - will see on 2 Jan

Training - Did a 18km ride in 1hr with avg HR of 136bpm

On Wednesday I did my ride on a hiking trail and I must say it is a whole new world. My ride this morning was also partly on a hiking trail. I will definitely have to ride more trails. I can also feel that I am getting fitter.

I plan on doing 40km on Saturday morning so lets see how it goes!

Hey Prince, hope you had a great Xmas!!?

Don't forget to keep training consistently... C2T clock is ticking and advancing with the relentlessness of the North Korean army goose step.....

Thanks, had a great Xmas. Hope you had one too and happy new year to you!

Havent updated because I am struggling with data reception so can only update when going into town.

Thursday update

Morning RHR - 60bpm

Weight - ??

Caloric intake - no idea

Training - none yet

I did 38km on the nature reserve's trail on Saturday which was fantastic. It took me 2hr40. I thought it would be quicker but there was a lot of loose sand which slowed me down considerably.

I also did 30km on Monday which was also nice and was the first time I averaged more than 20km/h on a MTB (albeit on tar).

The plan was to do another 30km yesterday which was moved to today. But we have been having heavy rains the past two days. So as soon as the rain clears up I will be on the bike!

Diet is another story. Between the braais and beers by the camp fire I think my plan to lose weight was a bit ambitious. I am disappointed that my plan didn't materialise, but I wont let it get me down. This was, however, the holiday where I was most active, so that's a positive!

Good training times you did last week, keep it up when the rain stops

I'm working my way through a packet of quality street chocolates while I type this so won't comment on diet....

Wednesday Update

Morning RHR - didnt measure exactly, but about 60

Weight - 128,4kgs

Caloric intake - will start measuring today

Training - none yet, ride this afternoon

We are back home so I have data connection again so I van update regularly.

Training has gone down the drain in the last few days. The plan was to be at Eiland until Monday, but we decided to change our plans and leave earlier and tour our way back to Pretoria and arrived late yesterday afternoon.

I weighed in at 128,4kgs this morning which is 6kgs more than when we left. I think alot of it might be water weight and suspect that I might be back to where I was by next week.

I have registered for the intermediate 36One training plan on fittrack which starts and about two weeks time and ends one week after C2T. That will add a bit of structure to my training.

I am now really excited for the training to come!
