The Classics

The hilly Amstel Gold Classic flattened its final kilometers by eliminating its last trip up the vaunted Cauberg, and Paris-Roubaix has added an uphill cobblestone sector (gasp), Solesmes, to its pan-flat parcours.

Roubaix is going to be crazy.. don't know if I like the change to Amstel though[emoji53]

They seem to be more proactive and stricter with security this year

Always sending a clear message to any intentions out there

Yeah

Amstel:

Opening it up to a breakaway or the all-rounder for a win

Interesting

Was this the last muddy Roubaix?

Donno Dale, maybe ...  it's certainly mayhem when them stones get wet & muddy.

Caught up with the 1988 edition late last night, that was a dusty one.

I just remember that wet stage during the TdF when Lars Boom won and Nibali gained dominance on GC

That was crazy stuff

There was one a few years before where one of the Schlep sisters & many others saw their backsides .. I think Fab led a go-slow thereafter

In that first vid I posted (in the days before image stabilisation on hand cams) there was a front heli shot of the cobbles with the TV bike, I was amazed to see how that front suspension was working overtime.

I see Sagan is busier promoting his sponsors on social media than getting quality race time.

We might not see the season we're expecting from him. (my opinion obviously)

1.. would be very hard to repeat last year's success

2.. it's similar prep schedule to the start of last year.. except he did tour San something where this year he did tour down under....also only the one race before the classics started.

We'll have to wait and see. The Classics are so close one can smell it.
