Hi there Hubbers.

As mentioned in the orginal thread, it would be fitting to erect a ghost bike in memory of our fallen Hubber. I didn't meet BDF but interacted with him on the forum and by the comments on the other thread he was a straight up good soul.

If I can get it right, I'd like to get this project completed in the next two weeks as I'm heading south for a holiday on the 15th Dec.

If you have any bits and bobs that you're willing to donate to a good cause, please post here or PM me.

I'm willing to collect donated parts anywhere in Pretoria and Gauteng when work takes me to your area(I'll make sure I get to you).

(Don't flame the poor grammar)

Thanks Tube for the kind words and encouragement.

Neil.

No worries dude. It is a very cool gesture and I've personally witnessed that the impact this makes for the family is huge and beyond measure.

(Just hoping we get enough of the community behind this to make it real and for possibly the first time I'll say I feel frustrated I'm down in the Cape and not able to 'actively' be a part of this!)

Here in Durban, not much I can do apart from some cash into a kitty to buy some parts/paint etc for the bike?  Account anywhere or suggestions for somebody to pay it over?

I did enjoy the contribution BDF made here.

I have an old road frame - but no fork unfortunately that I am happy to put forward...I am in the west as well...I am sure I can conjure up some parts as well.

I past the accident on Saturday....I live just up the road so its very close to home for me...

I unfortunately don't have any parts to contribute, but will give cash if that is needed.

I hate how the person who started the pledge to do things right (in my mind, its called the BDF Pledge) is the one taken from us, but I love how this community has pulled together on this.

I hope the suggestion of a memorial ride that was mentioned on the other thread gets traction. I didn't know the man outside of here, but he needs to be remembered.

Can't give parts but am more than willing to donate some money to help. BDF definitely needs to be remembered!

I'd like to suggest that you turn it into a rolling chassis rather than a full bike setup from having gone through this. That way there's less chance a desperate thief tries to nick it, thinking it's a functional bike! Consider removing cranks, chain, BB, cassettes, brakes, both levers and callipers, all cabling and grips. Leave the rest and spray it with a decent white paint. The Rustoleum option I used has held out OK considering the bike sits in the elements 24\7! Worth doing an extra coat and some clear after! Then it wont look like it's super weathered very quickly.

When we did this in CT for my work colleague we also did the following. I used the welding skills of a good mate and had him weld over all the bolts and fasteners, as well as weld a steel T bar post to the bottom of the BB with the T section pointing down. This we then dug a hole for at the site and dropped some pre mix into so that 72 hours later it wasn't going anywhere without serious effort! Been there since January and regularly has messages, flowers and other momentos attached to it!

It was a deeply rewarding experience to have done this and see the impact it has made for the family that continue to treasure the token!

I have an old MTB that I will gladly give. It's the least I can do for all the effort Bryne put into our #ConsiderateCycling initiative.

PM me to arrange.

Beautiful ????
