Gauteng Road Champs

No more than 4 groups, on the lap section of the route, competing for the same distance - it took us 29 mins to complete the lap on Saturday. At 5 min intervals it allows 10 mins between the first and last group turning onto the loop.

It's not rocket science.

Waiting for a call to discuss this in more detail.

And what about new groups entering the circuit?

later start times solves that problem.

Batch 4-5 groups with 3-5 min intervals.

Next batch starts when the last group reaches a point on the course that allows them to pass the intersection at the silos without affecting those turning right onto the loop.

Repeat for the number of batches, e.g. 21 groups would have about 4 batches.

Nah.

I'll be doing a lekke long ride on my own.  Will be better organised.  Harder.  Less negative.

And there will be beer at the end.

Win, win, win, win and big win.

Good luck to all who compete.

It is a true pity that, in Cycling, the provincial champs does not show you who the strongest cyclist in the province is.

and that is why cycling in your neck of the woods is in a mess. get involved and help make it a success.

Mr G

Any feedback from the organisers?

Unfortunately no.

I'm going to try again now.

Edit: Seems my proposal is not acceptable - later start times. Not much more I can do.

Sorry bud.  No.

I have NO aspirations to make money out of cycling or become part of it.

I race.  I love racing.  I am almost every weekend at some sort of event and just love riding my bike.

This is very easy.  You want my PARTICIPATION and more importantly my ENTRY FEE, give me a service.

Me as a CONSUMER is gatvol of bad "service".  Too much other races with value going around.

Saw a post by Jeremy:

To all my cycling buddies racing Gauteng provincial champs this weekend

Registration will take place at Tour De Frans Cycles on Thursday and Friday, I will release times shortly, as well as at the race venue on Saturday

We are taking late entries for both the TT and road race up until the day before each event.

So the whole week my racing license was "pending"

Now it's "active", but race entries have closed.  I have to get to Tour de Frans on Saturday between unknown:00 and unknown:00 to get an entry?

I think the pending then active story is actually because your club chairman took long to approve it. From the way I understand it, You fill in your details and pay on CSA. Then an email gets sent to your club chairman. They then have to approve it to say yes you are a member of an affiliated club.

It is frustrating because I wanted to enter races but had to delay it till it was active.

I know why it was pending  :)

It's a massive timing issue to even think of getting all this working between 1 and 21 January -- especially when the club is off racing.  And the lack of communication really doesn't help.

Good luck to everyone taking part - hope all goes well for organiser and participant.

Looking forward to reading the positive comments after the event - an hopefully very few negatives.
