Is there any difference between mtb/road.?

I know the difference is normally q-factor, but I can't seem to get clarity on this via the internet specifically for this Stages carbon crank arm.

Thx.

As far as I can understand it. You can get different spindle lenghs. When fitted in your BB will give you the correct Q factor required between MTB and road.

Thx - but the stages spindles are applicable to BB30, not the GXP units.

Also not too convinced about it's impact on a-factor.

Sorry I forgot to mention the Q factor of a road bike is normally 150mm and a MTB is 170mm. So buy replacing the spindle to a longer one on a MTB it will give you the necessary clearance required to miss your chainstay. ( They seam to have a big range of spindles available )

Not sure that the spindle is an issue as the spindle is attached to the drive side crank arm and the Stages power metre replaces the non drive side crank arm.  You do need to make sure of crank arm length though as most road cranks are 172.5mm long whereas most mtb cranks are 175mm long.

Will a GXP mtb left arm crank fit into a GXP road spindle? ( (referring to the crank bolt only)

It is no brainer to buy the same length on both sides.

If the Q factor differs on the two, it can be fixed with spacers to get even distances between the two chain stays and crank arms?

You would think so, yet I have seen guys selling their Stages power meters here on the hub for this exact reason.

After some serious knee or hip pain....lol

Will it fit? Yes

Will it work? Probably not without modification or pedal extenders.

Diff between road and MTB Q factor 25mm-30mm depending on which model.

I don't know.....I can only comment on experience.....

Moved my Cannondale SISL crank arm from road bike to MTB by removing the left crank arm and installing the Stages left arm.

No other modifications or spacers or BB lengths or nothing.

I think Cannondale uses the same arm with a different spindle.
