Bicycle licence fees

I don't think I agree. How many more accidents would there have been IF people all wore earphones?

Cars will hit you regardless if you have lights, high viz jacket or a Good Year Blimp attached to you bike, but these all contribute in minimizing accident.

Hypothetically: You hear a car coming from behind, you move over slightly to the left, car comes past, you hear another, you stay left.... if you didn't hear the second one, you could have veered into the path of a car. Just an example.

So I think there could be some logic behind the thinking, the logic could be flawed on closer inspection, but at a glance, I can see that wearing headphones could impair senses that could lead to move accidents.

WOW, that post made my day!

Judging by his rational approach, sincere and polite logic used, he must surely be an atheist.

Don't think so. With his sensitive hammer, his subtle hammer and slam hammer, the only conclusion is that he believes in Thor too.  :whistling:

We are humans and there is not always a black n white answer. I could easily say that it's inconsiderate to do that, but you have a point about it being very dangerous on that section. It's always about what you do, but how you do it.

So how about this:

If you absolutely have to ride 2 abreast for some sections, try do it in the most considerate manner as possible. Maybe turn around and acknowledge the car behind you, wave and smile gesturing that you will move over as soon as you can.

This might be better than riding two abreast like some self entitled pigeon that's struts around as if it owns the road.

I think that's the best way to leave the thread. Ride 2 when it's safer to do so, acknowledge cars and thank them.

Most of the time single file is the was to go, constania nek, etc.

Just don't be a **** basically

If 80% of cyclists are hit from behind (your stat) wouldn't being able to hear a car coming from behind be important, seeing that cyclists don't have the ability to see what's coming up from behind? Hearing would be the only sense one could rely on?

I wouldnt ride with headphones in even if it was allowed, I think we need all our sense available to keep us safe.

Let's be honest, even if it was legal you would not wear headphones as the white headphones with your full black look... also headphones are for joggers...

This is the golden rule that should apply to all aspects of life.

Don't be a d**k.

But here is the thing, not wearing headphone did not save any of the 80% that were hit from behind.

But how many other lives were saved by hearing a vehicle coming?

Neil would have plattsed today in Cape Town on Victoria Rd to Chappies. Thousands of cyclists, all polite and mostly single file, enjoying healthy outdoor exercise on bicycles with lots of patient and equally polite motorists in no rush to spoil the atmosphere.

Thank Thor you have moved on from your Froome man crush.

I am not a Froome fanboy, you need to get that into your stubborn skull. No matter how much you want that to be true it simply is not.

I'm also glad to see that you changed your avatar of Froome crashing, its sick taking pleasure in something like that....
