Kask Mojito

Hi guys

 

Any idea on the cheapest place to buy a Kask Mojito (M) helmet?  Cheapest I can find in SA is R2400

He did. New stock must have landed at more than R2,400. CWC is advertising at R2,499 but only in pink and I'm one of the few who can carry off a pink helmet.

 

Sometimes the colour and service are not worth an extra R500.

I find that this helmet does not retain sweat very well. I regret buying one as I now need to sweat a sweat gutter headband. I look like Springsteen when I take it off which is a plus.

I wear a casquette under mine - no sweat running anywhere and you look a lot cooler when you take off the helmet

There is a difference between carry off and carry away.... pienk helmets went out of fashion in the 80s... fondly remembered and never to be worn again...

Im not sure if a helmet via China is a good idea - there I were shopping for a new one, I would buy 2 of these, and break and cut one open to see if it has a cage moulded in etc.

Went with a Mojito of Bike24 for R1550 shipping included. Will have to see what finally cost will be when gets to customs

don't waste your time -all helmets from china portals lke aliexpress or dhgate are fake

spez fox kask -all fake and not worth risking your life for a few bucks saving

Those China ones are probably fake, I agree. But helmets are just polistyrene, nylon straps and some with a roll cage (I helped design and test helmets at some point.) I wonder how much the difference would be - hence me thinking of buying some and dissecting them.

I also wonder why there are so many Protones? Perhaps the factory making the originals is in China, too?

Customs on clothing and helmets are high. Expect in the order of 50 to 60%

Are there any testing and certification standards for cycling helmets?

I ride a motorbike and lids need a certification of testing. Might not be near perfect but at least you know there are minimum standards adhered to.

Customs duty on a helmet is 45% and vat will add another 15.4% after the customs has been added. The courier will add around R115 for processing your order through customs. If they post it customs add around R35 for processing and it goes into the JIMC black hole for an unknown time period.

 

So that's around R2,600 with no local warranty.
