Garmin Accident Detection

Hi everyone, i'm just writing this to say how impressed I am with Garmin's accident detection feature on their devices. Last week I fell while doing sprints (my cleat came loose from my pedal) and luckily I fell left into the road and my bicycle went right where a car went over it. In this process my garmin detected that I was in a accident and a alarm went off on the garmin, this sent a sms to my emergency contacts which informed them that I was in an accident. This is an awesome feature and would advice all cyclists to use it if you have a garmin.

P.S. check your cleats and don't make the same stupid mistake I made.

Do all the garmin devices have this feature? I have a 520 and was not aware of it......

It's a new feature that came with the latest update. I'm not sure which models can use it, but the 520 is definitely one of them...

Works like a charm!

thanks chaps ... so unless you have your phone with you, and battery life and signal and and and, the system is rendered useless inefficient.

But still a fantastic feature !

Well, unfortunately we're constrained by the laws of physics.

It's a damn nice feature. Probably not great for mountainbikers of less ability (like myself) though.

I use the LiveTrack feature from garmin connect on my 520. My wife is loaded as one of my contacts(not sure how many you can have but its more than 1). When I go for a ride I simply have BT on both edge and phone and start LiveTrack. My wife gets an email with a link and she can see where I am and where I have been. She see's my speed as well. I got a message on connect the other day about the accident thing but haven't activated it yet.

Has anyone noticed recently that the Garmin Incident Detection has become really sensitive? In the last two weeks, it goes off once or twice every ride. It has never done that in the past and actually worked really well. Now I just want to turn it off...

Would be good to know if anyone else has noticed anything.
