Morning All,

With the prices of GPS navigation computers being astronomical (ie. Garmin), I have been scouring the interweb for alternative brands. I came across the Bryton Rider 330. Has anyone used the brand/computer and what are your thoughts?

The specifications are pretty impressive:

  • Exquisite GPS Cycling Computer
  • High-sensitivity GPS receiver for fast positioning.
  • No speed sensor installation needed. Just power on and go.
  • IPX7 waterproof
  • Large and easy-to-read display
  • 7 customizable data screen with maximum of 8 data per page
  • Follow track plus turn by turn navigation
  • Built-in compass provides heading information
  • Built-in barometer for training with terrain
  • Bryton test preloaded to test your limits and train systematically.
  • One second recording
  • Compatible with ANT+ Heart Rate monitor, speed, cadence sensors and power meter for advance training.
  • Anti-glare display for daytime and clear backlight for night rides.
  • Support for viewing stats on devices or uploading to Strava, Training Peaks, and Fit track.
  • Support Bryton app for planning trip, analyzing and sharing tracks.
  • Strava Auto Upload to sync your activities seamlessly from Bryton app

Bud I use the bigger one, the rider 530 and it's amazing.

No issues, had it since November.

Would definitely recommend it if you're budget is tight.

Thanks for the feedback. The question that I am asking myself is it worth spending +-R 4000 extra on a Garmin Edge that pretty much has similar features (barring the colour touch screen that saps the battery anyway)?

If you can afford to drop 4k extra, then I'm sure there are reasons to convince you to do so.

Personally I don't think so.

I've got a 330. I've never had a Garmin but the Bryton does everything I want it to do. I don't run it with a power meter or HR monitor but I do run it with a cadence sensor.

The app is loaded on my phone and that's linked to strava so uploading rides is easy.

Lezyne also make a budget GPS. I think you can get them for well under 3k so maybe check those out too.

The only negative is the availability of mounts. But to be fair I haven't put any real effort into sourcing them.

Hi all,

I want to pull the trigger on a 330... I have one concern if anybody would PLEASE tell me if its got this feature.

I want the gradient... when I train climbs I need to know how steep they are ... I know the 530 can do this but think the 330 doesn't have this feature... please would someone tell me if its got this?

I want to buy and this is one of my MOST important features.

I have one and there are more features than what the normal person can use. Battery life is also way better than the 530. I just bought a out-front mount and uses it on my mtb. Didn't like and still don't like/trust those rubber bands. Very easy to use and uploads to strava so easy when on wifi. 8e33cd9237ef1ab7766d7dcb66781384.jpg157733a31de8cea3ab0f68135ac4e2dc.jpgc7742818d5ee65ebb4377dfee0436295.jpg29754e896e879e97d8d64619bc4ce172.jpga798e75bd753fcd2b307922a3b3622ad.jpg

Hou die rubber op die grond!

It seems to use the ANT+ standard so it should work with any garmin or wahoo sensor.

On the 330.

I did a trip to Italy and before hand I mapped out some routes that we wanted to do on strava and uploaded them to the device. I'd never done this so it was a bit of a gamble. Plus I didn't know if I had to download maps for the region etc.

Heads up on this tho. Know exactly where your start point of the ride is. I kind of forgot where I'd set the start point for all of our rides and we ended up riding around aimlessly for a bit to pick up the starting point. Yes I know I'm an idiot.

Long story short the route following worked like a charm. Even in a foreign country.

I've also just bought an out front mount from Bryton directly. Ordered it on Wednesday and it was on my bike last night. Great service from those guys. And a really great addition to my bike. Highly recommended.

I have the 310, and it does almost everything the 330 does. I don't care about having a track showing, which is one of the diffs between the 310 and 330.

I bought mine in the USA (for the equivalent of R1200.00 at the time) just before they became available locally. I was kinda miffed that I didn't get the 330, but so far the 310 has been rock solid, and battery life is excellent.
