ok well here it goes bought a fox rl32 f-series fork from adventurefreak.

I was on a tight budget and he asked me 2000 for the fork. I offered him 1500 and he said nothing less then 2000.

I then figured if the price is not negotiable that it would be a good buy. He told me that the shock has been serviced regularly and that the working condition is 10 out of 10. He told me that if im not happy with it then I can send it back.

So I paid the money with courier cost and shock came nicely packed in bubble rap ect. Looked in a good condition and I was pleased. Well after some time I completed the build and after my first 3 rides the oil just came out everywhere the rebound waass stuck and the lock didnt work.

I was on trip at that time and luckily knew a bike mechanic at our next stop that could help me out with new dust wipers and getting the shock in a good working condition.

Ive been sending adventurefreak messages but he ignores it.

Sorry to hear about your situation, and thanks for the heads up.

How long was "after some time"? People sometimes move on from deals if it takes too long for feedback.

On those 3 rides, was there any big impacts?

Does he ignore the messages, or did he not get/read them?

It was about 3 weeks after. I was forced to wait for more parts before finishing the build.

No big jumps, still had to get use to new bike.

Ive started sending him messages last year and he ignores it. He has been active on the hub and has read previous messages.

Thats a crappy one, never good to just ignore somebody.

Hi,

Where are you based? (Your province shows international)

It would be useful to have a proper chronological timeline to events here. i.e.

Got in contact regarding sale - (for example) Nov 2016

Received goods through courier on  - ?

Completed build on - ?

Took bike for first ride - ?

Discovered problems - ?

Attempted to make contact again - ?

Does the bike mechanic say the shock can be repaired? If so, what is the cost estimate?

Would be useful if he could provide a report on his findings!

The above are essential to understanding the dealings in this sale and who should own responsibility for which!

luckily not a big loss and learned my lesson.

Two things you dont buy second hand:

1- suspension

2- wife

well, it depends. You can't get a massive bargain, but it helps to know what the history is. For a fork it's hard, unless it has been forkbooking like a mofo.

What is your expectation of adventurefreak btw?

Sounds like you've made your peace and are ready to move on. Is there anything he can do to make the sale a positive experience still?

Have you rated him yet?

first thing I always do when buying a second hand fork, is to have it serviced. If anything is wrong, it will show. You never know what is going on inside. Better to open it up.
