Uncomfortable on bike :(

Hi All, I  have been riding for the last year and about 2 months ago switched to clip less pedals. When i first tried it, i had pains in my legs and back and decided for a bike fit. The bike fit resolved most of my issues although i cannot find a comfortable position on the seat. My position places me on the back edge of the seat and then makes me want to always slide forward. This results in a painful ride I cannot adjust the seat anymore unfortunately. I spoke to my LBS and they said that the bike seems a bit small and if they install a larger seat then i will have back pains. Im not sure what to do anymore. Im about 1.83 and ride a 650B Giant Talon Large frame. Is my posture a problem?Do i need to sell my bike?

Thanks

Who did the bike fit and What did the peeps who did the bike fit do say?Whatever you do test ride before spending more cash

Doesn't appear that any bike fit was done, Tjokkits ????

YOU dont deserve to be uncomfortable on your bike. Enough suffering takes place on a bike without you being uncomfortable. Get it sorted otherwise, before to long, it will be hanging in the garage.

Sorrie

Yes, I see

Wonder whether it was a professional fit or one of those drive-thru LBS ones ????

My local lbs did the fit. At first glance they mentioned that it seems the bike is small but they will continue with the bike fit anyway and test the results. The radical changes to my ride was only after I went cleats. Prior, I didn't have this issue.

Did you have bike fit after fitting cleats?  Could be that your saddle height (shoe soles differt thickness) wrong now and you now forcing you foot to be on completely different location on the paddle than previously.

The fact you say you feel like you sliding forward on the saddle is indication that something has changed.   I would love to give you ideas what might be, but without seeing you on bike it going to be wild guess

Save R 1500, go get profesional bike measurement done.  Then see if the measurements fits on your bike. :)

I think this is the problem.Having your feet "free" you could move position around the pedals without thinking until you got comfortable, once clipped in your feet are forced into one position and you can no longer get comfortable.

You will be surprised how feet movement adds and removes strains on your back and shoulders.........

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I not sliding front. My posture places me on the back of the seat, there is no seat left.this makes me move front voluntarily to find a more comfortable spot. I can't move the seat any back since it is the furthest on the rails.its far worse when I hit the hills.

Fit a longer stem to stop that or a seatpost with more offset. Not the suggested way but will help with seat position. If the frame is too small for you there is only one real answer.

Im probably considering this although lbs has stressed concerns about the entire setup changing.

Get a professional bike fitment done, veez'

Do a search on the topic here

It's difficult to assess your discomfort

E.g. Pain in the feet may be referred pain from the saddle area which maybe as a result of.....

Just my 2c, but you need to start with the correct sized frame. If that's not right, fiddling with seatpost offsets and longer/shorter stems can get things right, but probably a better idea to start with the correct frame. Once you have that, THEN make the other adjustments.

In your case, a longer stem may compromise handling, even though the rest of the fit's fine.

Go for a professional bike fit that comes recommended from someone you trust. Get a true idea of what all the measurements should be for YOU, then assess if your frame is the correct size. If not, change it. You suffer enough on a bike. no need to suffer because of an ill-fitting bike
