Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Good afternoon,Today was supposed to be the first time I get on my bike after more than 2 months off the bike.As I took my bike out of the garage to clean off the dust I noticed the rear wheel was buckled which seemed strange because I got the rear wheel built by a well known wheel builder not that long ago.On closer inspection I noticed the hub flange broke off. What should I do?
PhilipV Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Take it back to the wheel builder. Either the spoke tension was too high, or the Hub simply failed, which would be a warranty claim.

Matchstix Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I have seen some of the lighter tune hubs fail. Their hubs as far a I know I predominantly for lighter riders and usually are "race only" wheels.

Skinnyone Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Not common, but very possible, I have seen several brands of hub fail this way - like mentioned, it would generally propagate from a casting fault when made and not spoke tension...
