Argus Nutrition?

So, what do you guys use ito race food/nutrition/energy drinks for the Argus?

Same as for any other 110km race?

Or have you not done that distance?

For me it will be a nice breakfast of coffee and toasted peanut butter and honey.

Probably two bottles of cadence carbo fuel. Two small bananas for just after 1 and 2 hours. And a gu gel for an emergency.

Breakfast:

Oats with milk and honey

During the race:

Orange flavour game in the bottles

3 PowerBar gels (Those without caffeine)

It is kinda what I use...

This is enough to pull me through a 200km Audax... Ok I take Game powder for an extra 2 bottles, and buy some Coke on the road - for the Summer  Audax past Harties.

Keep it simple. Some people overdo it with the gels and energy bars.

I have one bottle of clean water, one with a Game/Rehidrat mix for the race with maybe few baby potatoes and nuts.

Then a banana plus peanut butter and jam sarmie just before the race in starting chute. Oats for brekkie as I wake up for the race.

Bottle of water

This is good advice.

A single bottle of water won't weigh you down and will therefore get you to the hotel at the base of Chapmans in Houtbaai quickly.

There you can have a quick Stella or two to rehydrate and replenish the carb stores and you are set for the sprint to the finish.

Maybe a bar or something while waiting in the chute too (20-30 mins before the gun)

Just curious what others use; for any long ride/race whatever really. I like my bananas and sandwich, while others hate it...

Whatever you do, try and test your fueling strategy before the big show.

This is as important as getting fit. ????????????????????
