Nothing wrong with SLX. If you the average rider you will not notice the difference. The weight is negligible as the difference is a couple of grams. My opinion is eat healthier and lose body weight if you a weight watcher. Dont get the obsession of cutting a few grams here or there for the average rider...

You won't notice the difference between SLX and XT with regards to your derailleur.

Hell even Deore feels fine. But you will notice a difference between the shifters.

I've noticed a better tactile feel and responsive shifting on the xt and saint shifters,

and I've had all sorts of rear derailleurs.

sorry for the hijack. I have a XT 10 speed derailleur and it keeps chowing through the cable at the connection point. I have polished and sanded the sheet out of the clamp to get rid of sharp edges but still, at least 2 or 3 times a year. really irritating when you're out riding and it happens.

Any advice?

If you go XTR, you will need to go on diet as buying food may be a problem - weight saving on components, weight saving on the waist

Thank all, I am thinking I will get the 11 speed rear cassette and XT derailleur to achieve the 2x11. No such weight issues, just want to get a robust and effective replacement

Thanks

Shimano's hierarchy from worst to best:

Tourney

Altus

Acera

Alivio

Deore

Deore Xt

XTR

I've left out Saint and Zee, which are downhill groups; and all road groups(obviously)

Where is slx.. I know it's between Deore and XT.... but it's awol :)

Anyone else think maybe the MTB Shimano SRAM comparison is off?

I would have at least put XTR = XX, XT = XO, SLX = X-9

If anything is off it's Campy and the rest!

I mean Xenon is AT LEAST=Force/Ultegra....

This picture is very misleading I must say...

During the times before 11 speed , XX was considered in A class of its own

As in there is nothing better than XX , although many people preferred XTR  :whistling:  and still do...
