From your list: Camber

Recommendation: SC or Pyga (or maybe that is my wishlist...?) although SC may be a little beyond the dosh you are looking to spend.

Not sure about weight limits on the Spez so probably something you should be looking in to.

Giant also a good option - in stock form they are below your budget, but for durability and lifetime frame warranty, something you should consider. Money you save from going with Giant can go towards buffalo wheels (although stock PXC2 jobbies are bomb proof already) or the ultimate in my book for a 29er Anthem - 120mm fork up front. That alone transformed my already capable XC/Trail Anthem to a more comfortable, confidence inspiring (sometimes a little reckless) machine.

Happy shopping! and enjoy Sani...

My ears just perked up. Was this a huge difference? What fork did you go for?

You're choosing between a bike built by surfers in California or cattle farmers in the Midlands. Who do you think has the better buffalo model?

Disclosure. I have a Pyga 120. Cost under 50k. I love it.

Absolutely, but depends if the OP is willing to look at 2nd hand

Now you talk! Last year when I was in the market I went there and it was R49 999 for frame only.

It's not what you know.... it's who you know..... :)

Some day somebody will get advice on the list they provide... shame, you have had more alternatives suggested than advice given on your list.

So how about this for a change of scenery. Based on your listed info, go check out and ride the Camber, seems the most appropriate bike on your current list.

Thanks Patchelicious! To be fair there could be other options that I never considered so I am open to other suggestions!

If SC can carry this bloke through the EPIC, you should be fine

Almost bought John's bike in Jan as he was upgrading to CC but not the right size

Thank you for all the input guys, much appreciated.

Patchelicious will have a good laugh at this, my list has had somewhat of an overhaul. I went and chatted to some bike shop owners today and was steered away from the race snake type machines as per Rocket Boy's suggestions . So Cube was a no go due to limited travel and pivots not being great for my weight (this from a Cube stockist). Momsen Vipa also too race snakish for me (also from a Momsen stockist).

Chatted to Pyga stockist regarding a Pyga Stage/Max/Mini Max and minimum build would be in the 85k range so he also suggested SC.

So I went and tried out a SC Tallboy C and getting a final pricing today. Dipslick I will give a Client a call too - thanks for suggestion

In short looks like it's coming down to SC Tallboy C or Spez Camber - leaning towards the former.

Thanks again for all the help/comments.
