Flat Pedal Advice: Saints or Aints?

Hey guys, my Shimano Saint left pedal (1 1/2 yrs old) has developed an irritating click. It spins nicely on the axle, but clicks especially on up hills. I've serviced it a couple of times, and it rides fine initially, but then the #*%$ click returns. I've been looking at buying a replacement axle (not cheap) but am now wondering if it wouldn't make better sense to go for something else. This will be a pity because I really like the Saints.

The two replacement choices I have:

1- Superstar Nano-X

2- Nukeproof Electron Evo. (Plastic?)

Advice? What do you suggest for grip, reliability, service, etc? Thanks!

Had a set of Saint MX80's till I managed to bend the axle and crank arm a few weeks ago. Long story... I really loved my Saints, so was stuck in the same predicament. Replace with Saints again or something else. Eventually went with a set of DMR V12 MG's as they are fully serviceable down to the bearings... They got pedigree! Enjoying them more than my Saints... Kickass grip and pin placement feels better. Good luck hunting!

Was looking at the saints (had before), blackspire and spank pedals and ended up with DMR V12s and despite looking a bit old skool now compared to some of the super flat pedals going about they are awesome. Only thing I'd say is obviously they aren't screw thu bolts (that's on the much pricier Vaults) and I'd actually say they can be sometimes too grippy with my 510's. Trying to get your foot off them is a conscious effort!

On my other bike I've got a set of Dartmoor Stream Pedals that I was expecting to want to replace in about 5 minutes they have been really, really good. 10 pins each side, replaceable and @ R480 brand new from http://www.pinned.co.za/dartmoor-stream-pedals.html you can almost replace the pedals instead of the screws! They have a lot of grip but you can also get your foot off well when you've ended up moving about on a descent... and not be thinking hard about it / kill momentum just to get placement right

Nothing wrong with Saints as well. Great grip, good size and just work... until they don't. :)

Checking out those V12's... look sweet!

Forget the Superstar unless they've changed their shipping conditions. Their shipping charge is in the 90gbp range.

I'd mirror the other suggestions here. Only problem with the v12s is the thickness. They're solid pedals though.

Check out the spanks (very very nice) and some specials on CRC

I ran these on my DH bike:

They are currently doing service on my trail bike with a pair of 510 Impact Lows and I can't fault them Some may say "Grub screws, blah blah, bolt through pins blah blah..." but I haven't had any issues.

If you hitting that many rocks, you might want to work on line choice rather that looking at grub screws vs bolts...

Ridden the Saints, ridden the DMR V8, ridden the giants and now have the Spank Oozy Trail...

In order of awesomeness...

Spank Oozy Trail --> DMR V8 --> Saint --> Giants

So get the Spanks from CRC...almost 1k less than local and don't look back, they are beyond amazing.

Even the Spank Spike would be fine as they come in at more of a discount. Ever so slightly smaller and heavier I believe.

I'm looking for something bit cheaper, round R500, from CRC.

Or maybe I just need to find a cheaper kit for my saints. Really love those pedals!

Are the V8 & V12 copies any good? profile looks bit thick.

Te Wellgo copies of the V8 are identialy except that they have no removable pins, which can be a pain if you bend or break a pin.

Ya...the normal V8's should come in around R500 though. Otherwide Dial'd Bikes locally had some V12's for a bit more than R500 if I remember correctly.

Correction...make that the V8's...

Thoughts on these? V8 Grease Ports?

Those are exactly the ones I had for years...never serviced them..Hit MANY rocks, they would not die. Eventually got rid of them because I wanted different pedals, so now my cousin is riding them :)

I am using Deity Bladerunners for a few years now. They are no cheap at all.

However - Tons and tons of grip, so much, I turned alot of the studs the wrong way around

11mm thin and what I really like is the bearing load system. It is supposed to distribute the load to prevent bearing blowout.
