No mate, you not only accused the truck driver, but also condemned him for his actions. That is the bold claim you're making.

Bringing in a generalization did nothing other than to derail the that specific debate, the topic of which was truck driver versus moron cyclist. I fully support the driver in that instance, no matter how ppl wish to frame him as the perp.

It's always good having real input like yours.

Perhaps it's my bias towards cyclist, but to me it seems like he accelerated into the cyclist.

However, I will conceded that you would probably know better :)

We actually took a few guys with us from country to country because we trusted them to get it done properly.

From the cyclist's view that video was shocking though... yoh. That guy was so lucky. Having also ridden my #fixie (obviously!) around London every time I landed up on project/living there if you learn the routes properly you can ride most places and avoid major intersections. Guys are direct and lazy I suppose.

There is a guy who keeps putting logs over the paths in Deere park as well.... People tend to hate cyclists all over the world. It's weird but sometimes understandable.

Wasn't my intention to derail it at all.

There are several posts in this thread about different incidents, I should have been more specific with my quoting of posts.

Cyclists are guilty for not obeying the law, their action were blatant.

Truck driver is guilty of attempted murder, his actions were blatant.

He wanted to teach them a lesson.... lets not kid each other.

I don't think so. Look at the video again. The truck window and mirrors are above the height of the cyclists. The driver is on the right hand side of his cab, chances are he did not see any of them. First thing he knew about cyclists is when he hit one of them. Frighting!

Someone suggested pulling in front of the traffic at a red light. If you pulled in front of that truck you would be in his blind spot below the windscreen.

If the truck had managed to miss the cyclists and driven on, he may well have hit the tree several meters up ahead. That could have brought branches down on top of them.

When you come across a truck like that while cycling, you want to stay well out of its way!

Oh I agree 100%, you are preaching to the coverted about behaving ourselves if we want to get respect in return.

My point though is that a cyclist acting as a moron doesn't justify somebody running them over on purpose?

No, of course not - it doesn't justify it in any way....

But even me, in my lifted Ranger which is alot lower than an arctic, has failed to see a motorcyclist on the highway and nearly killed the guy - was I wrong? Yes. But as a cyclist, motorcyclist, and motorist I understand the different point of views, and when I am on my bicycle or Harley I stay out of all blind spots because I know that even when I am not at fault, I will be the one that ends up dead or mamed. So... I am just saying, these cyclists were in the wrong, and are trying to prove a point with the wrong vehicle!

Think we are pretty much on the same page ????????

Makes me think of the bumper sticker I've seen on a few trucks which reads "If you cannot see my mirrors, I cannot see you" Sounds simple enough but still very true...

as for taking on trucks and trailers in traffic...I would rather be a few meters behind than try and figure our who were wrong after they drove over me.....

Interesting that they mention that they are not totally convinced of his story

Would be quite a k@k one if it was a scam. Wonder how much money has been contributed to his gofundme?
