The companyis based in Cpt, but manufacturing done in the east.

Quality control before, during and after manufacture is spot-on and the service is top notch.

But no, sure they can mail it to the UK, but as far as I'm aware they are not available there atm.

Thanks -will contract them. Would love to get one

Lyne is great :)

Reverb is good but can be finicky to set up - if the seat clamp is out by single Nm's then the seatpost will either slide down into the frame or the dropper mechanism sticks.

I'm now on my third dropper, 1st was the first generation giant dropper, crap, 2nd was a dabomb, kind of ok, endless problems with a sticky cable and lever, 3rd Reverb stealth.

I will be fitting the Reverb on the weekend and cascading the dabomb to the wife's bike.

Got a Lyne on my Lapierre and its flawless... It's only 4 months old...

The Reverb and many other of the premium dropper posts are like a German motorcar out of motorplan, amazing engineering and when it works its sublime, then the maintenance costs crop up, then you get an issue that nobody seems able to fix, even the bloody agents themselves..

Then you do the total cost of ownership you realise you could have bought 4 or 5 posts from the cheaper brand and just thrown them away and bought a new one on the spot if it broke, ie zero down time or hassles, if that's not the ultimate convenience then I don't know what is!

Ja nee.

I have a giant dropper, and a reverb. Giant on my Trance, and reverb on my hardtail.

Here is my honest opinion on both:

The giant is a year old. It goes up, stays up, drops when asked.

It rattles more than a Chinese taxi, the slider (stanchion?) has gauge marks in it already. It looks worse than an old unserviced Fox fork. It has 150mm drop which is amazing.

The reverb is 4 years old.

(Paid 3k for it back then.) It has never been serviced, and bled once. It now needs a service. It goes up, sags slightly and then stays there. It goes down when asked and back up when asked.

I'll gladly service the reverb when I have a bit of moolah and can get it to Stoke. Hopefully it will give me another couple of years after the service.

I'll be very happy if I can get another year out of the Giant, and will probably need to replace it as its design is crap wrt serviceability. I wish I can replace it with another reverb, but they don't cost 3k anymore. I will probably replace it with a Lyne, but they aren't user serviceable either, and you can't replace the top cap or wiper seal either, so it has the same flaws as the Giant post. So 2years down the line I might need to replace it again. Total cost of droppers on the Trance will then probably be thrice what I paid for the reverb, that will hopefully only go in for its 2nd service then...

You can't compare what Reverbs cost donkeys years ago to what other posts cost today, that's bs.

Lyne stocks the replacement cartridge for R800, fitting a new cartridge is like a full internals rebuild, not much else is needed on those posts in terms of maintenance.

Cost of ownership on a Reverb is insane, that's a fact, like anything else some people choose to get Reverbs for various reasons but they definitely don't choose them for how cost effective they are.

Perhaps some people are lucky enough to ride Reverbs hard and not service them for years, same is true for Giant posts and any brand I suppose but I wouldn't budget on a Reverb being ridden hard and not needing any services or work for years on end because when they go wrong it's horribly expensive.

I had a Reverb and now have the current Giant dropper post, I honestly can't notice much difference in use/performance, both had some minor side to side play, both went up and down at the push of a button. I was satisfied with the performance of both, I wasn't satisfied with the initial cost and maintenance costs of the Reverb though.

The giant is much easier and cheaper to change the remote cable and can be routed internally or externally, with the Reverb you'd have to buy a whole new post to do that.

Got a Reverb, had no issues and the yearly service costs around R1000 give or take.

Had the Spez Command Post on my last bike (the 3 position one). It was a lot cheaper, the servicing also cost around R1000 a year, and I had to replace the inner post once ( also about R1000) during the 3 years of ownership. The Spez post seemed to wear a lot faster than the Reverb, and it was mentioned once or twice that this may have been related to my weight.. The Spez post also has a nasty habit of creaming your nuts the first time you use it, I can still remember the exact spot this happened to me in Cecilia Forest. After that I learnt to use my legs to help ease it back up.

Both are good posts as far as I'm concerned, with the Reverb ahead of the Spez with regards to smoothness of operation.

Tom

We used to put jelly beans on the saddle and shoot them up with spez dropper and try to catch them with our mouths  :D

Seriously that thing shoots up at the speed of light

I'd say the Brand-X Ascender droppers that are currently on special @ CRC are the same product as the ones Lyne source from their suppliers..

CRC also have the Easton Haven Droppers @ 54% off as well.

I just got myself a Fox transfer dropper and Wolftooth remote. I have a Giant dropper currently and the dropper itself is holding up nicely (since 2015) but the Giant remote is not the best IMHO.

So popped into my lbs this morning and came out with a new Fox Transfer 150mm external dropper.  Can't wait to see what all the hype is about.

I wondered the same, but the key feature that I like is the cable connecting to the middle of the post and the brand x dose the appear to have that feature. I might pop in to CRC tomorrow and have a look

How much are those posts?

The Fox posts seem to generally be more reliable than the Reverbs but the service and rebuild costs are probably close to the same.

That's the good life, when Crc is your lbs!

It certainly helps keep costs down. My staff even got me a CRC voucher as a Christmas gift last year. Hard to go there and just walk out with what you need though [emoji23]. Having said that, they have closed the showroom at the warehouse, just the retail store to visit now,

As a lbs... that is actually not a good idea. Ever. It's easy enough to get that here for free shipping but that distance is a good buffer from impulse buys... most of the time.

In bought a mattoc from them for a bargain and look where that ended up!
