Okay, so is there any place locally to find these tyres? I've only seen them at Evobikes in 23C and out of stock on the 25C, which doesn't help at all.

They cheaper from chainreaction or bike24

Tubeless is still rather scarce locally.

Evobikes is about the only outlet that regularly stocks Schwalbe.

Hutchinson surfaced at CWC a week or two ago but seems it's gone again.

Specialized should have more stock for their new Roval wheels and perhaps Giant too for their tubeless offerings.

I see Bike24 is about R400 cheaper than CRC, so I think I'll go that route. Do they ship DHL courier? I see it's EUR20, so I would assume so.

My tyres from bike24 took about a week to arrive on my doorstep

As they don't work please explain the differences between a normal clincher rim and a tubeless clincher rim.

And then explain how I managed to ride 8,000km without incident when I fitted my Schwalbe Ultremo tubeless to a normal, non tubeless rim.

what rims are using?

Lucky you. DHL from Germany is only until it reaches ORTambo and then it goes the normal route. I usually wait 3 weeks for a parcel from bike24. There is only the 20 euro option afaik. Have a look at Merlin, Starbike and Bikebug.

They use DHL in EU, then gets handed over to EMS when it hits local.

Still worth importing though, much cheaper than local despite the extra wait.

Before you buy the Schwable Pro One tyres, consider the type of roads you will be riding. Large parts of South Africa have terrible roads.

The Schwable Pro One tyres are amazing tyres- very light and offer very low rolling resistance.

I eventually gave up on mine as they are very soft tyres and puncture very easily. One ride I got 5 punctures and although they all sealed, I got covered in stans  in the process.

Also be wary that if you get a sizable hole (piece of glass etc) you will need to patch the tyre as the sealant won't be sufficient at 7 bar - the hole tends to reopen.

So what do you use now?

Ja nee. We stopped last week to help a cyclist who had a cut in his rear tyre and it would not seal. Eventually he resorted to a tube inside the tubeless and that was another mission all together.

Went back to Gatorskins and tubes for my training wheels and GP4000s and tubes for my racing wheels.

Well see that's my dilemma. I got a sidewall tear on my Gator, and thought now would be the opportune time to switch to tubeless. Maybe I must just replace the Gator.

Do you also struggle to remove the Gators on the tubeless rim as I have helped a friend twice now with a puncture on AC's fitted with 25c Gators. We struggled to pull bead back to fit a tyre lever in.

Has anyone tried a mini-plug on road tubeless tyres? A Sahmurai or Ryder kit or similar should work well enough for emergencies.
