before everyone gets their knickers in a know about the title, its poking fun; BUT, I do however wonder why the heck should you pay R30 more if you decide to ride a road race on a mtb rather than a road bike....

ja thats a bit daft - I guess it is for the privilege to ride in your own mtb category, I assume there will be a seperate podium etc for the mtb category?

Maybe it is because mtb'ers tend to stop & eat more at each waterpoint

Seems a bit stupid! Question is, what do I pay if I want to ride my mtb in the road category?

I assume then you pay normal fee and start with the others in the normal categories

You only pay more if you want to ride with the other mtb'ers in the mtb category

Click bait titles are no different than controversial Huffington Post blogs... just saying.

Seeing that it a separate "race", with fewer numbers, maybe thats the figure that they arrived at for it to make commercial sense. Would you rather the roadies pay more to cover that extra cost, even though they weren't the ones asking for it, doesn't sound fair to me.

So it is basically a seperate event - different than doing the normal road race on your mtb. A bit like the e-bike category for the mtb race

  1. Road Race Mountain Bike Categories
Any competitor entering these events must ensure that they ride genuine mountain bikes with mountain bike knobbly tires. Any person not complying with this condition will not be recognised as a finisher in these events and if found after the event to have contravened this condition will be removed from the results.

you deserve to be penalised pay more R30 for wanting to race a MTB on tar

They actually should make this standard for all races, let the mtb'ers start at the back in their own category and charge them more

Finally, after a few years of searching, I've found sanity on the hub. Well done both of you.

And Knysna organising committee for making the insufferable buggers pay their fair share for all the "I did a sub 3 on knobblies" that invariably follow a race where mountain bikes are allowed amongst those of us who have the decency to bring the right kit to the race.

Their riders are also usually of the rotund variety, and leave more polystyrene containers lying around post event.
