Merkava is good yes.

Lorenzo Marx in Lion's Square at the bottom section (opposite the street from Velo Life) is also good.

Java at The Bird Sanctuary is crap (bad coffee and service), but the icecream shop gives a lekker pull!

My vote is definitely with Snobs in Melcksloot Village - between Waltons Stationers and PostNet. They also roast beans to my own specification - they can handle small quantities.

I know they already been mentioned by I would strongly recommend the Coffee Roasting Co. at Lourensford.

They have a large range of awesome coffee from around the world and from plantations where the local people benefit from the coffee which they produce.

I also buy my coffee for home from them - cost is similar to shop brands like House of Coffee and they deliver free in Stellenbosch and SW.

+1 each for Lourensford and Snobs. I cant make a call on the best post ride cup, but beans from Lourensford are superb. Their Yirgacheffe (Ethiopia) beans is one of my all time favourites can also recommend Huehuetenago (Guatamala) and Mpanga (Burundi). I have bought Yirgacheffe from other roasters, but have not found some I like more anywhere.

Best beans Ive had from Snobs are Antigua (Guatemala) and Tiamana (Colombia).

Honestly, having tested out a few post ride spots. I think that's it's between Fred & Max and honestly..... Waterstone woolies.

This is post ride spots, not "best hipster coffee taste".

Ive stopped at the Woolies post ride, too. Easy to roll in and can keep an eye on the bike. (Security guard was very serious about not allowing us inside with our helmets on).

Have not tried Fred and Max - will make a plan. (I drink my own coffee mostly. It upsets me when I fork out R20 and the coffee is meh.)

But drop me a PM when you are around - perhaps we can do a ride.

Sounds like a plan dude, just wear the appropriate length socks, else those R30 coffees are on you ;)

The only time when knee high socks are acceptable is when its "role play night".
