Hi all - have signed up for the 75 km but my ride has fallen through so I'm looking for a ride from roughly the city bowl area. If anyone has room I'd be grateful for the lift, will also chip in for petrol etc. If anyone is able just send me a message and we can try to work something out.

Many thanks,

Corey

Think it is going to be a real MTB ride, with a little bit of everything, river crossings, mud, climbs and fun descents.

Doing the 60 for a second time, so looking forward to a better time

I see there are E-Bike categories also. This will get interesting.

Where did you see that? Could not find anything on the website

Anyway - guess it is a reality that ebikes will be doing mtb races. I hope for the most part organisers stick with what the Knysna Cycle Tour model - seperate route on their own - I don't like the idea of ebikes & normal mtb's mixing it up on the same events

When you enter online and have to select the categories for your race.

Agree with them taking a different route, because else where do you place them in the starting line up.

Would also assume their times do not get recorded for seeding purposes, as that would be a good way to get to the earlier bunches.

From what I can see they will share the same routes. Also, now how do you police a rider riding an e-bike in a normal category?

I can only see tears coming. This thread will be interesting come Sunday and Monday.

I'm failing to see what the issue is here? I have a mate with an e-bike and ride with him regularly and besides him waiting for me at the top of the climbs the rest of the ride is no different to any other bike ride... except on the flat sections where I can get over 26km/h, then I have to do the waiting.

The issue is e-riders that don't have the downhill skill mixing it with the other riders with skill. Can't see the organisers letting the e-riders go on route before the other normal batches. That will be even more problematic.

Now imagine a noob on an e-bike easily passing you on the climbs and then holding you up on the singletrack? Or slower riders slipping one on flat sections to catch you again after you passed them. Can think of any number of scenarios where people on ebikes can inadvertently interfere with normal riders in a race.

Probably not enough of them yet to really cause problems but I can see the potential problems coming a mile away

The climb after you go under the railway on the 50km will be different from last year. We are opening up land to plant a 100 hectare block of Chardonay, the new trail laid out my Meurant is great. Have fun!

Is most of the rest of the route the same though?
