Letum911 Posted June 2, 2017 Share I am no guru, and have very little knowledge on the matter. However from the research done, I would either go for the Smuggler, the Scout (both from Tranny), Banshee or Pyga. In that order
Christie Posted October 17, 2017 Share I pulled the trigger, Rocky Instinct. Build:Thinking of a 130 or 140mm Yari with a cartridge upgrade1x11 gruppo (will look for a good deal from folks who upgraded to 1x12)Proper brakes (will try fit Hopes into the budget)Undecided on wheels, will think on it. Go for 140mm travel, will be a seriously fun bike. I would consider MRP Ribbon or Stage - awesome forks! As for wheels Hope Pro 4s with Stans Flows or Spank Oozy Trail 345. Christie Posted October 18, 2017 Share I have to compromise to keep cost down.Fork is the next biggest chunk of money, hence looking at a Yari. Manitou Mattoc and DVO also worth a look if I can find a bargain The fork is important because it wont get upgraded later. If I have little money left, Ill get an SLX gruppo and upgrade later. Grease_Monkey Posted October 18, 2017 Share Nice bike!Try the Formula Cura brakes-brilliant performance at a good price.Hope hubs and Stans Arch a good wheel combo Curas are absolutely brilliant. I have Shimano XTs on the one bike and Cura's on the other - got them both for the same price, but the Cura's are hand downs better! Great modulation and stopping power. I have to compromise to keep cost down.Fork is the next biggest chunk of money, hence looking at a Yari. Manitou Mattoc and DVO also worth a look if I can find a bargain The fork is important because it wont get upgraded later. If I have little money left, Ill get an SLX gruppo and upgrade later. Yari is good, but Mattoc is brilliant. If it is between those two go for the Mattoc. DVO is also amazing IF you can get a good deal on one - but either way I would still choose the Mattoc.
