I also did the 109km last year. I'm quite interested to do the "Teams" 170km. That being said I don't have a team unless someone knows of an opening in theirs? Or if we can try get a team together in time?

Any takers?

I did the Cyclo Sportif in 2hr50min on a steel frame Hansom

Ah my bunny hopping buddy on the Hanson. You rode both Cyclo Sportif's with some of us. (the Pure Savage kit guys "B"team)

Did I missed the early entry or did the price go up with nearly 100%?

Hi all, how does substitution work. Or can i just give my entry to another rider.

You would need to email the organiser, as they use Racetec so would load everyone that starts onto system then match that to those that finish. Then it pops out people that did the one but not the other, not sure what they will do.

Last year there was a super low price for the long route.

Yeah, but juniors are unlikely to do 160km, the issue is not discounting prices for old toppies, in order to grow the sport need to get juniors racing the short routes. It therefore only makes sense to discount the junior or shorter routes.

last year early bird price showed what these events should cost VS the R300.

having said that, i wore some Enjoy kit during the race and got VIP treatment at the finish including a food voucher and some drinks on tap

Dammit, I really should not have signed up for this. But I know if I did not I'll have FOMO on Sunday as I see all the bikes coming past Welgevonden.

Maybe it is better to ride it and be useless than to not ride it at all...

Just realised this would be my 5th one in a row, didn't even realise I have been cycling for this long... Love this race for the extra dimension that added 50km brings to the normal PPA races

Some advice from an old-timer who have made every mistake in the book

Don't waste too much energy working up-front even if the pace seems slow. All those weak-looking wheel suckers will turn into powerful racers the last 25km coinciding exactly with when your powers start to fade. (and afterwards they will complain just as loud about wheel-suckers not doing their bit)

Don't waste energy chasing lost causes, if you get dropped on Helz or Botmaskloof, sit-up and wait for the next group and then watch as you pass all the tragic heroes who burnt themselves out chasing lost causes.
