2:33:43 for me. Just shy of my 2:30 goal. If the elastic didn't snap up Cedar road.

I have to say I hated Kyalami. The A bunch split horribly as we had to avoid slow Vet's and junior women and hand cycles. Made for some hard work chasing the bunch down again.

Best description for my ride was a “hop-on, hop-off” tour. Started in the VC bus, then got off just after Kyalami.

Hopped on the VD bus on the M1 and jumped off at the Mandela bridge before getting back on their second bus.

Climbed off again at Witkoppen before climbing on the VE bus just before Steyn City.

Limped home 11 mins slower than last year, before heading out for a second lap (shortcut through Glenhove Ave to Jan Smuts) to support the charity.

Stopped for coffee at the Seattle (Caltex) on Jan Smuts.

Hop on ... Hop off... That sums up my ride , but. .. That moment when you think you finally going to get that 1st sub and you start cramping after Kyalami. Hopped off to rub out everywhere lol... Limped over the line in a very painful 3h30. Hope no one recorded me doing Pilates on side like A YOGA MASTER ;)

Looking at the times posted I sorta feel ashamed. Anyhow, first 947 and then doing it with my extremely unfit cuz!! Total time out on the road, 07h28, moving time just over 05h09, spent the balance of the time waiting at the top of the hills.

What I learnt, make sure that the people you ride with is a similar fitness. And 32/18 gear ratio spins out extremely quick on the tar!!

All and all loads of fun, will be back next year for a sub 4.

Well I said I wanted a sub3 , and have to be really happy with it considering how little training I have done in the last 6 weeks.

2:59:55 on racetec. Steyn city always brings on the cramps, had to cruise up that last bit and just watched the minutes go.

Did my first(and probably my last) Double Lap with the Qhubeka charity.

The whole DL batch started extremely fast, was in pain all the way till the M1 where the pace matched my abilities. A Batch leaders caught us at Nelson Mandela Bridge and I knew we were in deep #* as guys will jump onto that. Got duly dropped on one of the steeper climbs and basically solo to a 2h55,which is a Pb despite the section added to the start.

2nd lap was a whole different experience. Felt so bad for all those people who were going to spend 6 hours or more in that sun! Saw 2 pretty serious crashes about 20m in front of me, very lucky in the end to have avoided any collateral. Had plenty of pain in the legs the middle 3rd but luckily refueled properly at one of the stops to get home in 3h47,which I am happy with considering the conditions.

The start layout definitely worked for me, don't know how things went in the middle batches.

Kudos to the organizers.

Was quite hot and a bit windy in some areas...if not in a group that is.

Overall fairly okay / "happy" with the result and enjoyed the day out.

Cramped heavy up Cedar and almost had to stop...but road the cramps out to the top.

Stopped in Steyn City at the waterpoint and had plenty on Coke and Energade...thanx guys and gals!!!

Ended 1 minute quicker than 2016...will be back in 2018 to try and better previous results

I had a good day on the bike.

I had no pressure to deliver a good time and went out to ride hard, ride smart and enjoy.

Today I did my best time since my big crash in ghandi square 2014.

Todays milestone is not my time but the fact that I managed a 3 hour plus ride without the refered pain down my right leg due to my lower back injury from my big crash.

It has been a very long road to recovery and there was plenty days when I felt like giving up. But days like today is makes up for all of it.

What an awesomely organized event as usual. Rode with with a mate who took 24 minutes of his time last year, which is a brilliant achievement, although the goal was sub 3.we didn’t miss it very much at all.

Love the full road closure & the diversity of the riders . Good day out ????

Are all the results loaded? Mine is missing. Might be the fact that I was reseeded on friday?

Same here although my wife is showing and she was also reseeded

Anyone know what happened at the crash with the lady that was airlifted to hospital? She is nog doing well

Was that the crash in one of the later (think kk) start groups just before entering Kyalami?
