Thoughts on these?

Lighter than most.

Great aero profile.

Super bearings.

Anyone riding them? - can you comment?

Very little in the way of actual reviews about these. But on paper they look good.

Campag Boras look lovely. But maybe dated profile?

You cant compare these to Bora's

I would rather buy a set of Zipp 404 from CWC on sale currently for R28k

http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/zipp-404-wheelset-firecrest-2017

why?

they both run on Ceramic Bearings.

the Rovals are much lighter and wider (new tech, reportedly faster)

also have one of the biggest names in cycling behind them? - specialized have put alot of wind tunnel testing into these

The white paper available claims the are faster than the new Zipp 454 NSW?

NB the paper is by Roval. so take that with a pinch of salt...

Great price on the Zipp 404's, but again maybe older tech. heavy. and relatively the same price as the Rovals.

Because it's Campy. That's like saying the Colnago is dated; but lemme have the axis

The Roval 50's are brand new and have the latest tech, everything I have read about them pegs them as amazing wheels. Sure campy is great but automatically calling them better when you know nothing about the Rovals is just plain ignorant.

Those Rovals look amazing, Spez marketing blurbs etc aside, I think they are going to be easily as good as the top offerings from the usual top names.

I have the CLX 60 and they are amazing..

Very stiff and responsive..

They also look amazing

I have been thinking of selling them though due to the condition of our roads

Carbon or Alu.

Hit a pothole both can go pop.

Have seen it happen to both on races

Granted when the carbon fails it's more spectacular.

I've been riding carbon wheels as my everyday wheels for years now.

Have not had a issue with this.

I figure if I'm spending that much on wheels I'm certainly going to enjoy riding them every day. The whole only use them at races makes no sense to me.

Bora has updated their hoops in the last year

Or I think brought in a new rim depth

Also guilty on many sets of wheels.

One nice set is the way to go actually.

Ride the best you can. Every day. Life is short.

Just get insurance for potholes.

Dont believe everything you read on the interwebs but actually try and test various wheels if possible.

I was in the lucky situation recently of testing the Roval CLX40 wheels fitted on a S works Tarmac test bike. The wheels was actually the disappointing part of my 2 week test.

The wheels felt dead and no feedback but they rolled decent when at high speeds. Overpriced though to be honest with better wheels at the same price point.

I went for the 2017 Bora One 50 clinchers instead but the Zipp 404s was a very close 2nd choice.
