shaper Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Cannot wait for this race...!!! Going to be a good oneMake sure your P6 toolbox is fixed securely, road surface is worse than Durban
BigMike69 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Best advice man.... cycle at 75% if you have never done a tri before ... your legs are in for a shock. You will literally only be getting rid of the jelly legs at the end of your run. Do not push the jelly legs too much you will see you le heart go ape **** and then you are going to be in trouble. Good luck man
TheBritishTwit Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 #48... not sure if that's a good thing or not Also stupid question, never used a wetsuit before. Do you wear your Bibs underneath or just wear a pair of swimming shorts and then put your bibs on afterwards?

Do you wear your Bibs underneath or just wear a pair of swimming shorts and then put your bibs on afterwards?Wear your bib, then take your wetsuit off in transition and just put on your cycling shirt and kit on etc Edit: there are no change facilities and you change in transition by your bike, so easiest is to wear your bib and not have to worry about anything else.

Do you wear your Bibs underneath or just wear a pair of swimming shorts and then put your bibs on afterwards? The Triathlon type bibs dry out very quickly, so you just swim with them on underneath the wetsuit. I honestly have no idea what will happen if you swim with normal cycling bibs. My gut tells me they might absorb more water but I dont know whether this is indeed the case.

My gut tells me they might absorb more water but I dont know whether this is indeed the case. That's my worry, will be using normal cycling bibs. Was thinking then that I may just wear swimming shorts (used for pool training) under the wetsuit and then put the bibs on top for the cycle leg.

I wouldn't worry, the bike leg is short enough for you to swim, bike and run in your swimming shorts

Was thinking then that I may just wear swimming shorts (used for pool training) under the wetsuit and then put the bibs on top for the cycle leg.Not too sure whether this will be comfortable. I think bibs work best if they are in direct contact with the skin. You may feel as if you are sliding around on the saddle if you have the swim shorts underneath. The guys at Fluidlines have sales on old stock every now and then. I got my race suit through them and I am very happy with it. I even freak out some roadies every now and then by doing a ride in my race suit, they definitely don't approve https://fluidlines.co.za/collections/may-sale
EmJayZA Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 Coming down with something. Throat is scratchy and sore, sinuses are not happy either. HR has also been high. Taking Corenza C, resting (no training), eating well, and getting a lot of sleep. Any other suggestions? Sore throat not getting any better after 2 days now.

EmJayZA Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 Good luck, insidious thing this flu but take the break. Not much to be gained slogging when ill Went to the doc today. I have pharyngitis. Was viral, but has now gone bacterial. Got a 5 day course of antibiotics, and instructions to not train until Saturday. At least I will manage to get out on my bike on Saturday. I start tapering on Sunday. Next week I have a few assessments to get through and a couple taper workouts. Was getting signals from Friday that I was getting sick. Infection only set in yesterday. One thing is for sure is that I am beginning to read my body a lot better.
Fast Forward Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Weather looking good for the weekend (thus far). Sent from my SM-J105F using Tapatalk
