SRAM, have they come down in price since cutting out CRC?

Maybe I'm just stupid but was it the bike shops requesting this or did SRAM themselves make the decision?

Your anger and vitriol may be a little misplaced IMHO but whatever blows your hair back

Whether SRAM made the decision or whether the bike shops requested it is immaterial - point is it's behaviour that distorts the market to the detriment of the consumer.

And I do think anger is warranted - the only person losing out here is the consumer. There is absolutely no benefit for the consumer in the current arrangement. Why should I not get angry and just accept this crap? That's why this kind of thing happens - consumers don't get angry and just say things like "whatever blows your hair back".

On your first point we agree but you directed your anger in the original post at the bike shops alone.

Anyway I have no horse in this race .... Yet [emoji6]

It baffles the mind that a GX cassette in Germany is R980 and locally at best R2199 and then R2869 .... and all are prices from on-line stores.

I need to buy a larger jar of Vaseline!

you see I have this stupid fooking Hope XD F/Hub body on my wheelset ... already checked with Kiwi if he had a Sunrace that is XD compatible and unfortunately he does not.

Cost of a new freehub body? I managed an exchange free of charge at my last bike service on AM Classics. Now rides 11-46 cassette. Don't miss the 10 that much. Screw Sram.

  I decided to start fishing from now on - only thing Shimano is good for

Hope F/Body is around the 1.5K mark ... so yes, that with a Sunrace cassette = roughly the same price as only a GX cassette locally.

Going to take up yoga, how expensive can a thin rubber mat be!?!?

Let that be a lesson. Hope FTW. Proprietary hubs, pffftt... 8 years later, since my first Chumba, my Pro 2's are still buzzing, converted to thru axle front and back for my latest bike, no problemo.

I love the Hope F/Hub sound .... except when I have the bike on the stand and I am trying to set the rear brake and wanting to hear if there is any "ching, ching ching" when freewheeling .... because all you hear is ratatata-ratatata-ratatata-ratatata-ratatata-ratatata-

Take the chain off and spin it the other way?

too much effort ... just learnt to rotate the crank with the spare hand at a steady cadence to keep the pawls engaged :P

a fellow rider asked me if the hub is meant to make that noise as it sounds like something is wrong, granted he has not been around cycling too long, or more specifically mountain biking, so I kept it simple and told him he has no class :P
