s14phoenix Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 I am not a doctor or physio or a bio but: You NEED to stretch... especially after exercise and before to warm up. Cycling has a tendancy to shorten muscles already - you need to stretch. dynamic stretching is better than static stretching also. warm up your joints also - your knees will thank you later when you can still use them. perhaps see a bio or physio to help with your flexability.
Red Robin Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 being supple is a genetic thing... sure you can get better with days and months and years worth of stretching, but don't feel bad if you're anything like me. I have never even been close to touching my toes and i don't even resemble someone stretching when I give it my best. Stretching is good for you and worthwhile doing, but IMO it is more about preventing injuries than improving performance.I didn't realise it was genetic as well. My family makes sense now.
