Help! I Can't touch my toes.

I am not a doctor or physio or a bio but:

 

You NEED to stretch... especially after exercise and before to warm up.

 

Cycling has a tendancy to shorten muscles already - you need to stretch.

 

dynamic stretching is better than static stretching also.

 

warm up your joints also - your knees will thank you later when you can still use them.

 

perhaps see a bio or physio to help with your flexability.

being supple is a genetic thing... sure you can get better with days and months and years worth of stretching, but don't feel bad if you're anything like me. I have never even been close to touching my toes and i don't even resemble someone stretching when I give it my best.

 

Stretching is good for you and worthwhile doing, but IMO it is more about preventing injuries than improving performance.

I didn't realise it was genetic as well. My family makes sense now.
