So Trans Afrika 2017 has been cancelled. So I'm considering do the Munga instead.

An issue for me though is I have very little MTB experience, and I've never done a MTB race. Can anyone recommended some MTB races in the Gauteng area that would have similar riding conditions to the Munga, that I can use to judge my ability to do the Munga?

Don't think the route is very technical... From what I've seen its gravel grinding 99% of the way...

Perhaps this as a tester? https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/167429-event-waterberg-extreme-330km-26hrs/?hl=Waterberg

Think it will be a nice prep for Munga...

sad to hear that, seemed like momentum was growing for it. I think you'll see some guys doing it on rigid bikes with dropbars - so it's more about endurance than true MTB skills.

Working on it... Longer haul than the Munga itself. :)

Allegedly.

so you got lots of entries - great!

It is taking a lot longer to go through the submissions and whittle them down to a winner than we anticipated - sorry guys and girls. If you weren't all so keen, we wouldn't have this problem, of course.Thank you, all!

Working towards the end of next week...

Thanks for the patience.

Tim is busy riding the Cross Cape route, so it's unlikely that he'll announce the winner until he's finished that.
The training portion of the prize is due to start on the 1st June though, so there's not a great deal of time left to decide on a winner!
