LBS here is R 380 for 25 or 50 hrs for service.

"Removal of lowers, removal of air spring, replace with new oil and suspension grease. (Excl parts)"

As Therm' said, lowers services are pretty easy and also not exactly expensive at a shop either.

My camber had it's first service yesterday. Got it back all lubed, primed and ready to roll. I have been fastidious in ensuring that the stanchions of the fork and the shock get a rinse and wipe after every 3rd ride or so. So far, no signs of wear on either, albeit only around 40 or so hours in.

Not sure what the LBS is gonna quote me for a proper suspension service, but if they pull the mickey, there is always Knipe Racing.  Louis is a suspension guru, and does not rip it as far as his invoicing is concerned.

That is fair

Rather turn your bike upside down for 15min every couple of weeks and let the oil in the lowers soak the foamrings again.

Is it worth storing your bike upside down or is that overkill?

Wouldn't recommend storing it that way. If there is a bit of air in your brake lines they seem to lose pressure. If you tip it over for 15mins every 2nd/3rd week that should be more than enough to keep the foam rings lubricated.

Lefty also?

Na ... lefty not so much, is the right way down already. And the rebound unit is way more sealed than forks.

Rock Shox RS1 does not even have foamrings, dustwipers only.

Speaking of lefty...

Where can you buy the tools and get taught on servicing them?

Did my lowers and air spring last week. Seriously, an easier job than bleeding brakes. And you don't always have to replace dust wiper seals when doing a lowers. It all depends in what state they are in. If you do lowers regularly then they won't wear as quick.

I can do a lowers in 20 - 30 minutes. I suggest a work stand though.

Work for omnico .....das really the only way , I've tried to get training and tools ..next to impossible

Yup that is a tough task, I begged and pleaded for some years, finally got some training directly from the Cannondale guys ... but then had to wait another 6months for the tools.

I got the feeling that Lefty boys do not really want to make the intricate workings of a Lefty public knowledge, which is understandable, they dont want any "Jan Raap en sy Maat" poking around in there with sticks.  Might be wrong, that was just the feeling I got.

That is just the type of thing to challenge me. And my son had to decide he wanted a Scalpel Si.
