If the weather holds, this is going to be an epic day in the mountains.  Looking forward to it.

Haven't been in Clarens for quite a while.

What a day! What a race! What a vibe! Loved every second of it.

Came home in 6:21, everyone gave it their all and we had shattered bodies crossing the finish line. Had some bad luck in the first half of the race with 2 punctures and a crash in our group, luckily nothing too bad. Much improved second half, found a good rhythm and we soldiered on to a good finish.

Closing note, how about that mineshaft with 160km in the legs

Finished with the girls in 4:59

Nearly died.  Then died.  Resuscitated.  Died 3 times.

The stats showed I did a leisure ride in the platteland.

The body tells me I can give away my cycling stuff and start something else like baking.

Will have to go think deep what went wrong........

Stunning beautiful race with an awesome vibe and loads of happy faces everywhere.

Organisation was super.  Thank you to everyone concerned.  Stirling job.  Maybe the marshals at the intersections could maybe be a bit more active in stopping vehicles crossing the cyclists' path and pointing in the correct direction.....but all good in general.

When we hit the first little bump on 130km we were 7 left in front.......

I turn my head to my buddy next to me telling him sorry bud......that is me for the day....can't keep up.

And he goes....'hold my beer'.......and blows even more spectacularly!  Leaving me as the sixth person on the road busy dying.  Had to stick it out.

Idiot.

hahahhahahaha

What a great ride and the team spirit was amazing! Well done to all that completed it.

A rotten tomato to the "Spruit Snakes" however... Swearing and using abuse language when groups pass is just bad sportsmanship...

I was ok for the first 300m .. died for next 80km and then body said hell no.  Had very pleasant last 70km riding at my own slow pace, taking pictures and talking crap to many a straggler.

thanks to all the teams that passed and offered me a place to hook on, although I wanted to, legs was just not there.  It was major wakup call on how unfit I became the last few months.  Time to get back in saddle.

All and all brilliant day, scenery is spectacular and team spirts (except for 1 or 2) was amazing.  Definitely recommend the race to all , bring the climbing legs and good spirits!

We had a great day out on the bike.

On of the men and two of the ladies in our team started suffering as we entered Golden Gate.

With a bit of walking and a bit of encouragement they made it over the climbs and back to Clarens in 6h45. All 12 that started together, finished together.

Will definitely be back next year

No man.  You're making the rest of us look bad.

If the wind pushes here too much around on those 50mm, you should come and have a talk about my 303s  :whistling:
