I think the hard thing is we are all using different weights to determine our FTP. Weight with the bike, weight without. Are all watts equal? How are we suppose to reach a consensus when the parameters aren't established

Now you are just being mean, you know that there a few on here that won't be able to resist this...

Whatever do you mean Patch? Can a man not ask a series of leading questions  The bait has been set

this got me thinking...

anyone out there with some IT capabilities?  With so much power data available and so much tools for crunching the "big data" numbers these days, it would be a world first and a extremely informative to start a power data upload page for a massive event like the 94.7 where everybody with power meters can upload their data for analysis.  If marketed correctly one could literally have 100's of data sets for the exact same route on the same day which should give great insight as to what to train for to achieve your goals.

Would be great to see the differences between time, NP, critical power, seeding group, etc. and even to quantify the differences within one group to see what how guys that pull compare to the wheelsuckers.

Maybe someone with the IT know-how can setup a website where we all can upload our PM data with your weight after the race?

edit:  not to mention drawing correlations between 94.7 and CTCT times etc.

An afterthought on this, one could use some basic models to estimate the power required around the course for a particular speed, climbing speed etc. yes, it would be rough and it'd ignore the effect of wind direction, variable rider mass, effect of drafting etc etc, but it would give some simulated data to compare with field data.

We all know it is the length ratio of your sock to your Tibia bone that makes the biggest difference on your performance... seriously have the noobs not learnt anything???

Serious talk for a minute, but having nice socks does actually add a few watts. Maybe not the biggest difference but I found that Versus Socks make you feel good about yourself and when you feel good you flare your calves on the downstroke and there is a slight increase in performance.

Call me vain, but looking good is half the battle.

Or use your own powermeter to record the results when participating in the race. Just remember to stay with the leaders.

Yes but flaring your calves makes you less aero so negating the power advantage. We all know aero is everything... rather wear super aero long overshoes.

Boet I think you need to check your attitude at the front door. This fred is about watts not aeros.
